For such a boring fight. From the moment it was made, everybody knew it would be a pointless bout. Mosley never had a chance. The fans knew it, he knew it. What was he supposed to do? Walk into the ring and allow Pac to bust him up? Mosley protected himself by covering up and taking one last pay day. Pac and Roach should take the blame for ripping the fans off by putting past it opposition in front of Pac.
Bob Arum would be the main culprit. But at some point Manny should be a MAN and say enough is enough. When was the last time he even fought a P4P ranked guy? Looks like in 2008 with JMM.
Both Hatton and Cotto were P4P highly rated fighters earlier than that- but they were not as highly decorated anymore given their recent losses to Floyd and Margarito. So they were not P4P guys when they stepped into the ring with Pacq.
He fought Cotto and he is fighting Bradley both P4P. The only other WW was Floyd and we now know about that. Good thing about the Mosley fight is going forward he will only fight the best for his remaining bouts.
I honestly think Pac thought Mosley was still some sort of threat (he was obviously wrong) but given how long it took for Pac to start opening up against Shane, I think he was really worried about Shane's speed and power. I think, like us, he was at least hoping to see warrior shane in there.
Agreed i think we all hope they make better opponent selections from here on out. When Cotto lost to Margs in 2008 he was barely in top 10 P4P. His win over Jennings did nothing for him and his SD over Clottey actually hurt him and removed him from just about everyone's list.
You dont usually lose you p4p status with one loss... You logic sais that, since Pacquiao lost to morales, he should not be p4p. Hatton and Cotto game back with wins over guys that were top 10 in their weight classes. Hattons only loss was at welterweight.
correct- fighters ALWAYS losing P4P rankings with a loss. now some remain on the so called "list" of top 10- but fort hem to move back up typically the above fighters have to lose, retire, etc. here is a random example from a 2009 P4P list. Mosley just beat Margs- so now Shane was listed at #4 and Margs was no where to be found. I wish i could find digital links to the ring magazine listings as most people use those as a standard. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/chris_mannix/03/13/p4p.rankings/index.html At the time of Manny's fights with these fighters they were not P4P top ranked at all. both cotto and hatton were trying to work their way back.
Yes they were. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...s-the-ring-magazines-pound-for-pound-rankings http://www.pacquiaovideo.com/2009/09/ring-magazine-pound-for-pound-ranking.html My examples > yours because mine references ring magazine rankings at more appropriate dates. Yours doesn't have Ricky Hatton because Pacquiao just got done murdering his ass atsch
He should take the blame for letting Arum do all the easy work, for those who says Floyd ducked good opponents in hes career, well who was hes promoter at that time? Arum, after he left Arum he fought, DLH, Hatton, Marquez, Mosley. Arum is just merely doing the same with Pacquiao, same but just older Arum....lol
nice try arum tried putting together a fight with the best but homie decided to take a vacation arum made the best available and manny beat the ish out of all of them
You'd be surprise how good people can look versus fighters with NO SKILL, SLOW & EASY TO HIT (Shane vs Margarito). Thats why Roach didn't want any part of Mosley after that fight and everyone in ESB thought Shane was too strong and powerful for Floyd. They (everyone in ESB mostly) thought Shane looked Phenomenal vs Margarito, when in fact Mosley has been average since '05. I have said this time and time again, including making several threads about Mosley's complete lack of skill. But what I found fascinating in watching Pac vs Mosley....is that a 40 yr old fighter, with limited skill, no jab, no ability to counter punch was able to frustrate the so-called best fighter on the Planet. And at times throughout this fight Mosley who has NEVER BEEN KNOWN FOR HIS ABILITY TO BE ELUSIVE was making Pacquiao miss, and lunge while getting himself complete out of position, leaving himself exposed and WIDE-OPEN for counters. Yet Mosley No-Longer pulls-the-trigger like he used to, so he couldn't take advantage of any of this. It's been a long time since I spent an entire 12 rounds ":-(SHAKING MY DAMN HEAD:-(" while watching a fight. And my first AND ONLY thought the entire time was: "How is it possible for the so-called best fighter in the sport, with the so-called best trainer in the sport....HAVE SO MANY DAMN FLAWS?"
