the advert for the ppv if i remember correctly was bad ass, i didn't know much about boxing back then but when the advert used to come on it used to give me butterflies and couldn't wait for it to happen.
i cant remember? I do recall the judgement night- tyson v holy! but ****, i remember itv/bbc made a big headline of tyson released from prison..with King picking him up in the limo, tyson with his kulfi..and some footage of Ali Welcoming him!
Biggest heavyweight fight since Lennox Lewis vs Mike Tyson in 2002 and most technically important fight since Lennox Lewis vs Evander Hoyfield in 1999. 3 of the big 4 belts will be unified on the night for the first time in 12 years.
i dont remember the video but i remember my entire neighborhood going crazy with the tyson is now muslim story.
its on the list but there is no way that maybe even in our lifetimes that there will be another fight hyped, built up and anticipated as much as hatton vs mayweather....... **** me man i remember it like it was yesterday....it was like england getting to the world cup final.......every ****er was up for it and watching........HATTON FEVER!
7 weeks to go though. Once the football season finishes Sky and other sports media will be hyping the arse out it. Its different from the Hatton fight but with it being Heavyweight will get plenty of paper coverage.
1. haye vs audley 2. Kotelnik vs gavin rees 3. calzaghe vs rjj 4. lockett vs pavlik 5. woods vs tarver
Id throw Tyson - Bruno, Benn - Eubank in there. Whoevers saying its bigger than Hatton - Floyd, they must be wrong. Didnt it do like 1.2 million buys in the UK alone??
They know as much as they know about Floyd Mayweather back in 2007, the big difference is. That Wladimir Kiltschlo has the whole of ****ing europe behind him, i spoke to Russian and German people, that know nothing about boxing. "And they only watch boxing, when the Kiltschko's fight". Floyd Mayweather was known in the US, and Ricky Hatton was only known in the UK. Nobody gave a **** about ether of them, globally, thats the big difference between Haye vs Kiltscko, and Mayweather vs Hatton. Fair enough Ricky hatton in 2007 is probably bigger than David Haye, but not by much....."In the UK". And Floyd Mayweather is probably bigger than David Haye & Wladimir Killtschko in the USA, but yet again in 2007 not by much as a collective unit............."Which David Haye & Wladimir Kiltschko are" "And then Haye & Kiltscko are both by far bigger than Mayweather & Hatton outside of the USA, all over Europe..........at the time they made their fight" Mayweather vs Hatton was not a global fight. "Haye vs Kiltschko is a true global fight" Its a bigger fight.
The flip side to the argument (that Floyd v Hatton is bigger) is: a) Floyd/Ricky generates more interest in the only places that matter :hey, the original and current homes of boxing - US and UK. Floyd is bigger than all four in the US and Ricky is bigger than Haye in UK. B)Floyd/Ricky, in all likelihood, sells more PPVs than Wlad/Haye C)Floyd/Ricky involved two unbeaten fighters (noone had seen them beaten - the promotion was perfect). Wlad/Haye have both been stopped. D)Floyd/Ricky - No 1 P4P v fringe P4P, unbeaten No 1 at the weight below. Wlad/Haye (at best) Top 10 P4P V Top 20 P4P
Lewis v Tyson and Lewis v Holyfield 1 and 2 were bigger than Mayweather v Hatton. This fight is going to be big. It's still almost 2 months away. Wait until 2 weeks and 1 week out, then you'll see.
I was at Lewis-Holyfield I and it didn't feel bigger to me at the time but it was a while ago.....pretty subjective question in any case I guess.
