If you open up Yahoo's boxing page you'll see two main articles: "A Star in the making" (on Andre Ward) and "YCN: 10 overrated boxers" The former goes on raving about Andre Ward's star quality completely disregarding that he has... well, none, he's not he's a crowd pleaser to put it gently (dirty inside fighter is the colder version), and he lacks any kind of charisma, yet he gets incredible press everytime he fights, making the latter piece on "undeserved" and overrated boxers that much more ironic.

Let's see the list of top 10 overrated boxers today!

    1. Arthur Abraham (32-2, 26 KOs)
    2. Marcos Maidana (30-2, 27 KOs)
    3. Michael Katsidis (27-4, 22 KOs)
    4. Devon Alexander (21-1, 13 KOs)
    5. Chris Arreola (30-2, 26 KOs)
    6. Dmitry Pirog (18-0, 14 KOs)
    7. Tomasz Adamek (44-1, 28 KOs)
    8. Mike Jones (24-0, 18 KOs)
    9. Saul Alvarez (36-0-1, 26 KOs)
    10. Adrian Diaconu (27-2, 15 KOs)

On May 12 2011 these 10 being the most overrated sounds downright ******ed. There are just two holding really high positions (Canelo, Adamek) to be called overrated, but the former is just 20yo (with a lot of hype), so let's just wait before we call him anything, and the other hardly gets the credit he deserves following the cleaning of 200lbs division and grabbing some nice wins at HW.

I don't think Abraham, Katsidis, Maidana, Arreola and Diaconu on this list worth too much discussion, a clinically inane wouldn't call any of these recetly beaten and dragged to dust dudes among the most overrated. In fact Arreola and Abraham got so much **** lately it only reveales how biased the author is, still kicking into them when no one really rates them anywhere near the elite. Mike Jones is a curious choice too having almost lost to a journeyman therefore not being rated highly, and Pirog did exactly what this article intends (but fails): exposing an overrated hype job. Kotelnik did something similar to Alexander, but Yahoo first ran to Devon's help writing how legitimately he won and might be the next best thing in boxing when they knew it's a lie, only to go "overrated" in hindsight after he quit in a horrible fight. But then again, who overrates Alexander TODAY? Bias and hindsight is a rarely ******ed combination. Bias, hindsight and Yahoo employee is worse.

The article states "Somewhere between hype and wishful thinking, the fans and so-called experts rate these fighters highly when their respective skills and/or resumes tell a different story altogether". So tell me how come when Vitali K, Haye, R. Gonzalez, Nishioka, Hopkins, John and Narvaez end up being overlooked at the very best for Bradley, Ward, Dawson, Berto, Khan, Gamboa or JuanMa, how THIS 10 end up being the most overrated, and not one of the overhyped ones I just mentioned? And this article next to "Star in the making", Andre Ward. :patsch

Is there even ONE outside of Canelo who fits for the word overrated on May 12 2011?

At least the person who compiled the list managed to mask their agenda by including a few token Americans.

Adrian Diaconu, why's he on there? I have never heard anyone hyping him up to be something he's not, is he even relevant?

How the 'machine' works is just so ****ing disgusting.

Alexander: nice kid, nice story, nice skills, let's get behind him! Beats Urango: "great fighter"! Gets the ultimate gift: "had an off night but won". Come Bradley fight that everybody knows will be ugly: "Watch future in the making". Quits in ugly fight, we look dumb: "Overrated". Ward: nice kid, nice story, nice skills...

Well, it's not a bad list ! Arthur Abraham was overrated but meanwhile he was put on his place by Froch and Dirrell.

About Maidana we can talk about it ! He showed some limits with Morales and Khan !

I love Katsidis but he's really overrated; he got too many big fights (losing them all) for his true value !

Devon Alexander like Abraham was very overrated before Kotelnyk and Bradley fight; now nobody expect too much from him !

    Arreola as well was overrated

Pirog only beat Jacobs ! Didn't look well in his last fight ! it can very well be overrated

I don't agree with Adamek; I think it's a good boxer and proved himself many time during his carrer

Mike Jones is only a prospect ! Nobody says he's a great fighter; same thing about Diaconu

Saul Alvarez; I personally think he's overrated

Yeah that's the top and bottom of it.

I'd also like to add............HBO throws weight behind prospect(Devon), fans dont have the commonsense to take a step back and actually asses his skills for themselves, and so buy into the HBO hype, he does something no one else has come close to doing, knocking out Urango, now he's considered a "special talent", people are expecting great things from him, he goes on to have a lesser than stellar performance against Kotelnik, and arguably loses the fight, but gets the decision, fans aggrieved at the decision, angry that he's proven to be not as good as the perception they created in their head of him, so they go luke warm on him due to the Kotelnik performance, Bradley becomes flavour of the month, the favourite to beat him because of that performance, he quits in ugly fight as you say, and instead of folks who rated him as a "special talent", admitting they concocted an overblown perception of him in their head, due to the fact they didn't have the commonsense to take a step back and not get drawn into the hype HBO were trying to push, he becomes "overrated"

Kats is under rated... just cause he faced 2 great fighter that can dissect his style doesn't mean he sucks...

Most of the guys on that list arent overrated cause no one really thought they were the best at their respective weights. I think its ridiculous to say Adamek and Pirog are overrated considering ones undefeated and shows much promise (Pirog), and the other only has 1 loss on his record to the former king of 175 lbs (Dawson) which was too low of a weight for Adamek.

shyt list. does the author not know that most of these guys have been knocked off and are not regarded highly these days?

And Adamek is overrated? I realize he doesn't stand much chance against Vitali but he certainly isn't overrated. The guy has done more than what was expected of him...

And how popular is Diaconu anyway? this list is shyt...

Manny Pacquiao is the most overrated boxer now, and in the history of boxing.

1.) Pac has had FIXED FIGHTS
2.) Pac uses EPO STeroids/Hormones, and other PED's.
3.) Pac ducks many good fighters and only picks Old faded "shot" fighters.
