Got a sneaky feeling Abraham wil ko ward in the final rounds despite being behind on the cards, obviously froch will win Johnson. If these both happen how underwhelming would the super six final be with froch v Abraham 2. Also are showtime matching the two losers in a fight on the undercard?
Froch-Johnson will be a difficult fight for Carl, though I think he'll win, but there's nothing obvious about it. I don't think Abraham has much of a chance against Ward. Ward is pretty difficult to rough up, expect to see Ward pushing Abraham back and breaking his will.
Its not a feeling, its the chance that he has. Use his strength and power to land the ko punch. He can do it but Ward has skills. With Wards chin history and Abrahams power history, it would not be a huge upset.
I'm interested to see how Ward goes about his work. Tbh AA found Dirrell towards the end, Froch hurt him with his long range shots and knocked fight out of him. Ward doesn't possess that power but may impose his will. Look to pot shot early then when comfortable look to show off a thing things which i have noticed he likes to do. Ie. Taking it to the inside and beating and bullying his man. I wouldn't advise it against a banger like AA but Ward's got supreme belief. He didn't look great against Bika but who does? this fights all about AA's hunger for it and whether he's willing to go for it. I do believe Froch knocked fight out of him that night so we will see if he has more success with Ward. Least Ward hasn't got that long reach and power but he does have other qualities that tbh AA doesn't like at all. It does look like it could be a wide UD for Ward. I have noticed AA's behavior looks like a man disillusioned with it all so who knows he might chuck it in mentally and get pulled out by his trainer who's at his wits end with him.
This is a good question. Anyone have any idea about this? You wouldn't think that Abraham would be too keen to go in straight away with either Froch or Johnson straight after 3 bad losses and a dodgy win against a journeyman.
Carl Froch looked like Ray Leonard against Abraham, Ward should be bale to outbox him too. Obviously if AA lands then Ward is in trouble but AAs footwork to get himself into range over the last couple of fights has been awful.
Would be interesting to see people's opinions of this fight before the super 6 started and compare them to now
Plus Ward footwork and ability to control the range of the fight was brilliant against Kessler, really standout IMO. Can't really see Abraham having much luck. Still I would love to see AA come out and just go all out for it. He had a great dig on him, wouldnt need to worry too much about Wards power and we dont really know how well Ward can take a punch.
Thats never been AAs style though, he likes to plod for a few rounds and catch up with his man when the pace slows a little. I'm not sure about not worrying about Wards power, it gets mentioned a lot when supposed non-punchers fight but I think most of these guys still hit hard enough to hurt and deter an opponent if they start taking chances. At top level its not often you see a fighter box like he has no respect at all for the other guys power.
theres no 3rd place playoff written into the contract. I cannot imagine the Sauerlands would want to make a fight with Glen Johnson. Showtime are almost doing an unofficial tournament outside to. Miranda is fighting Green, Bute vs Pavlik is on the cards and Kessler vs Steilgritz is being lined up. In terms of AA KOing Ward its possible but I cant see it. There seems to be this feeling Ward is not good cos he always fights at home which is complete bull****.
I think most people agree that Ward is extremely talented and its more of a dislike and frustration that is caused by him fighting at home. There really is no reason for it with Ward. You can see why limited fighters with a powerful promoter get all their fights at home; to get the benefit from any doubt in a close decision and build up an impressive record, but Ward really could be an exceptional fighter and beat pretty much any 168 fighter pretty handily. He's giving people a reason to doubt and criticise him for no reason.
