Seriously, this probably works with Americans, but I've lived in the region, and work with Filipino's every day of the week.

They may be tough guys with eachother, but they're generally pretty apologetic, humble, and quiet the minute a westerner walks into a room.................

When I make a mistake, at work, and the customer is a Filipino, I usually e-mail to apologise, and find out they are the person apologising to me!

I promise you - walk into a bar in the Phillipines, Singapore, Malaysia, or anywhere like that and you'll find pretty quickly, that everyone's terrified of you

If the bar in question is in Makati, Manila, you are maybe right. But in the province, it's a whole different story.
Never mess with a drunk filipino because 1/3 of the time he is armed. I nearly died once but hopefully my cousin took all the heat and he got 15 stiches on his head ( what can you really do when you are drunk and being pointed at with a .38 ).
