What do you think guys, is this man a top 10 ATG? maybe it's just me but I love extreme weight jumping exploits and he is another of these crazy mofos from lower weights who decided to mix it up with the heavies.

Are there 10 boxers who clearly achieved more or had a better reume than this man?

One of those dudes you gotta rank in that 7-15 area. A great fighter. Definitely overshadowed by Greb, but even then his accomplishments shine enough for him to get this sort of recognition.

Seriously overrated, didn't prove himself the best in any division, quite likely won the MW title on a gift decision and couldn't handle certain styles

how did you score the flowers - walker fight?

are not impressed by someone beating britton at WW and then going on his career to earn a draw with Sharkey as well as beat levinsky and uzcudun?

maybe it's just me but likes of fitzsimmons, langford, walker, greb all jumping up in weight to the heavies and becoming top contenders in their own right - it amazes me.

Its not available on film that I know of but it is considered controversal. The Loughran fight I thought Loughran looked to control though and I think Loughran should rightfully rank higher than Walker as he has the better wins

Britton beat him Walker the time and was about 38 when Walker dethroned him. Latzo would then dethrone Walker

The Sharkey fight is impressive, but Sharkey is a very hot and cold fighter. Allot of Walker's legacy is based on him being a smaller fighting hanging with HWs, but allot of smaller fighters hung with HWs

Really all in all Walker is sort of the james Toney of his era, plenty of weight hopping, hanging with decent HWs of his era (Toney hung with bigger HWs but started higher up), but not the best of the best. In actual fact I'd probably rate Toney over Walker

Yes Walker is impressive but there are many very impressive boxers in history and most don't make the top10

it's about criteria i think. for me a guy starting that low and being succesful that high is amazing. that's why i rate walker, fitz and langford quite high.

i think history will remember toney much fonder than the present does. but i wouldn't put him that high. quite high yes but not in my top 25 certainly. it's a shame he didn't fight jackson at MW. also a shame he didn't fight nunn or benn at SMW. his run of fights against jirov, holyfield, ruiz, guinn, rahman and peter was superb. My only issue with Toney is that he never really was a champ in any weight class. which isn't always a bad thing, but i don't think his resume is deep enough to even it out. still a very good fighter and certainly an ATG, i truly believe he belonged in a different era and maybe he'd have received more recognition I'm not sure. great, yes. greater than walker not in my book.

haha holding a trinket doesn't quite compare with beating the divisional champion.

Walcott, maybe. I'm aware that he issues challenges to Jeffries, Ruhlin, and Sharkey and they were all unanswered. Apparently Sharkey's manager had to stop them from sparring because Walcott dropped the guy one day...
