I must admit I am tempted to search for the posters who said they would stop being a fan if he fought Mendy next. Those who said he'd NEVER fight Mendy but rather ditch the belt. In particular I might look for one of laffies posts where he ridicules me for even suggesting Mendy would be next.

I hate to say I told you so. :)

    Muahahahahahahahaaaaaa!

Well, I'm one of the Bute's fan still his fan. To answer your question, I dont know about laffie, but for my part I didnt said I will quit the bandwaggon if he fight Mendy next. My own question was: does Bute need his belt in his contract with showtime?

If the answer is yes, then he have no choice to fight Mendy. If the answer is no, then he should just have drop the belt and be done with it. Unfortunatly nobody could answer this question.

Anyway, if you want to keep a tab, if his next fight is not against the like of Kessler (good boxer), Pavlik (exposure), Steiglitz (another belt), I will definatly quit the bandwaggon. And I'm a man of my word.

Mendy is a better fight then some of the guys being mentioned atleast from the standpoint that he is the mandatory. If Bute would have fought someone different than he would still have to face Mendy which would just keep his current streak of non-top fighters going.

Bute has faced a few good opponents during his title run but this makes four straight opponents who aren't even in the top 10, or if someone put them in one they shouldn't have. Absolutely no excuses after this fight Bute has to take on someone like Kessler, Pavlik, or Dirrell. If he doesn't he should be embarassed and not really worth discussing anymore. I think he finally fights another top guy after Mendy but I wouldn't bet much on it.

Im no fan or hater of Bute or Ward but do think sometimes Bute gets attacked a bit unfairly, consider....

Now Im not saying who better out of Bute and Ward and I agree Bute hasnt fought the top guys yet but Ward has only beaten an unwell Kessler and look at resumes overall of both Ward and Bute.
Andrade was at #3 SMW when Bute beat him. Also consider that Cloud for beating Zuniga on points went above Dawson at LHW for doing so, in The Ring mag. Note also Bute has looked better against common opponents

Bute beat Bika - better than Ward,
    Miranda - better than Ward,
Andrade twice, Who has beaten Steiglitz
    Joppy,
Zuniga, better than Cloud and Cloud beating Zuniga has put him above Dawson at LHW
    Brinkley
Berrio - Holds a win over Steiglitz
Magee who is a European champ and world rated fighter who hadnt lost in 10 fights
    In world title fights.

You could also note Mock, Tatvosyan and Salem

    Ward has beaten
Kessler - A very good win better than any name on Bute resume but remember that Kessler was an unwell fighter
Miranda - not as convincingly as Bute
Green - who lost to Miranda and was KOd by Johnson a glorified journeyman in his next fight who is in his 40s, and that was Johnsons best SMW victory
Bika - not as convincingly as Bute
Next Abraham on a winning run of 1 injury victory and then 2 clear losses the last being very decisive

    You could also note Buchanan

Now Wards victory over unwell Kessler isnt better overall than Andrade twice, Berrio, Zuniga, etc

Bute and Ward may both turn out to be hype, but due to the hype of the S6, people seem to forget that Ward beating Green isnt better than Bute beating Magee

    Which made Mendy Bute's mandatory....

Might as well take the fight in Romania off TV, since it's not a good one, but he has to take it.

This is kind of where I've been for a while. Bute has a solidly deep resume that sometimes gets underrated. He does completely lack marquee names though.

I also want to point out that Berrio should have two wins over Stieglitz. Stieglitz won the first time they fought, but it was a bull**** stoppage of a fight Berrio was winning and I consider that one a complete robbery.

Pavlik beat the crap out of Miranda and Zuniga.. May have took a few more rds but it was a show! Also 2 W's against Taylor, nice win Over Bronco and Rubio..

Bute Wont be a champ anymore after Kelly shakes The Ring Rust off and developes That Killer instinct again! Thats if Bute Fights him!

A question for the Bute fans and haters

Mendy is undefeated and has only lost by an illegal punch giving him a DQ victory over Bika. The very same thing happend with Dirrell, yet I have read many posts where people say Bute should fight Dirrell, and Dirrell got beat the same way as Mendy by a former MW who has been exposed and Dirrell was beaten by Froch (close however you scored it) who is considered limited.
The fight was only in the first round when the DQ happend, so nobody knows for sure how Mendy would have faired against Bika.

I have read posts, though dont know if true or not, that Steiglitz and I think Sartison also turned down fighting Bute. Dirrell isnt ready yet to my knowledge, Kessler needs a warm up first, as did Pavlik after time out and getting used to a new weight division, other fighters with recognised names are tied into the S6. If all of this is true or correct, why is Mendy looked at as such a bad match up?

90% of mendys 30 opponents never had more than 14 wins
    his resume is downright pathetic
anthony hanshaw is the best guy he has fought at 21-0 and had a draw with him, bika actually is the best, but he got kod by him

Mendy is a bum. the "fight" is a joke
Bika lost because hes dumb as ****
Bika was about to destroy Mendy within few seconds
Stieglitz refused to fight Bute in Montreal.. because.. well.. Andrade KTFO´d Bute and Bute won by decision.:patsch also Stieglitz won his belt on the road and invited Bute to Germany.. Bute said no thanks
Sartison got some lowball offer from team Bute 300k or something like that when he had an proper offer on the table to face Stieglitz. also he suffered a serve knee injury and is out for 10 to 12 month anyway
