he's evil man. I don;t know if I always look into it too much, but you know that European tour Robinson had before he lost to Turpin? There's this one where he's ****ing wrecking some guy's life, and the guy keeps going down, it's only an exhibition and the guy goes down and Robinson puts his hands out to help him up, and then the guy quits, and Robinson just walks away from him. Like I say, I don't know if I'm looking into it too much and it's been a while since I saw it so I might be romanticising it, but I always had the impression that Robinson was ok with the guy if he took his beating, hence him offering to help him up, but when he quits he's disgusted with him and walks away. Might be wrong.
See all this 'composite' puncher stuff.....Some great punchers aren't as accurate or refined as punchers rated below them. When you talk about a 'puncher' you're mainly talking about power, obviously. You can talk about technique, variety, accuracy, etc, and how the power is delivered differently between fighters, but being a great puncher is mainly about power.
:rofl son its all about big macs and fries **** chewin steak and your mob ties modern nutrition got me smooth as a fleece brain workin better its that tactician Gavin Rees
Well that's debatable. Because you're taught how to 'punch' when you learn how to box. And Joe Louis punched perfectly. I see your point but the way you're coming across matter of fact when its definitely debatable isn;t the best.
Yeah I know the fight your talking about, Robinson defiantly had a " WTF are you doing look on his face ", but its shows how lethal Robinson must of been, for fighter to except that "I don't want anymore of this" "there's no way I can beat this man" moment in front of 30 thousand of his home fans.
I've read countless articles on websites, read Boxing Monthly since around 1995, got tons of Ring Magazines, and also read lots of books by some great boxing writers. And not once, not once, in any of the ridiculous amount of reading at my disposal have I heard the word 'composite' when describing a puncher. Not even in the Ring's edition of the 100 greatest punchers of all-time. Only on here.
1.Muhammed Ali 2.Joe Frazier 3.Evander Holyfield Jack Johnson was an extraordinary character due to the pressure he was under and Larry Holmes is also close to the top of the food chain for me,but the moderator stated 3 "favorite" heavyweights ever.I admire the old timers I've seen on film, but those 3 are my guys.
You aint ever going to be considered a 'puncher' if you haven't got power. Whitaker was a superb puncher but his language of that word involved accuracy, speed and variety, and we know his power was moderate. But I mean a puncher, which equates to power by the bucket load in a fighter.
