If and when this fight does happen, has all the hype around this fight exceeded the fight itself? Its been years of talking about this fight and the fight itself could be a disappointing 36 minutes. Neither guy is in his prime, and by the time it does happen, Mayweather will be 35 and Manny at the end of a long career. It will likely be both guys last fight. I see the fight being a close decision for Mayweather, but regardless of the result, I'm not sure it does a whole lot for boxing. All these talks about the fight have taken up at least 50% of the attention boxing has been getting, and if this fight is anything less that a great fight, I think it will be a let down. Even if its a great fight, I think the importance of one fight has been overblown at this point.

Its kind of like planning a vacation for months, thinking about how great its gonna be, but when you finally go its not the experience you expected it to be. When its all over, your back to your normal work week, feeling a little disappointed and its hard to get your focus back at work. Hopefully I'm wrong and if it does happen, the fight will rejuvenate boxing a little. I just have a hard time seeing it live up to 3 years of hype.

the fight will be an utter bore, Mayweather has to shut down Pacs offense and he cant do this with his own or he would be beaten inches from his life. Mayweather has to fight negative which he is a master at and be like the Germans in every World cup final.

Mayweather will try to outtap Pac while on the defensive all night and leave this hard to score fight in the hands of the judges with fans arguing and complaining for weeks even years. The fight will be a total let down and controversey mark my words and save this post if it ever happens.

No way Mayweather wins in a fight for the ages.

Mayweather UD 120-108. Mismatch and just like all his other fights. Around round 6 ppl will wonder why they ever anticipated it and the excuses for Pacquiao will start.

More than likely. I'm not sure WHAT can live up to this hype. I think it would be a good fight though with moments of drama.

the best vs the best, wont be a good fight to watch, will be very techincal and cagey for parts.

i really do think pac would win.

    floyd cant hurt pac.
Pac will land on and hurt floyd.
Pac will close floyds distance, and counter his counters, stop his comfort zone of potshotting in spots.
pac will throw and land more.(even if he misses a load still)

if floyd is avoiding pac now that he is no danger, what do you think he will do when he feels what shame mosley felt. it will be ugly and once again, floyd will have picked your pocket.
i wont blame floyd if he wins by running. i put the responsibility on pac to catch the rabbit. its not like anyone expects floyd to go toe to toe with him.

Yea it will. Floyd will be on the back foot and Manny can't cut the ring off. Manny has no defense and lunges in. Floyd will win in a non exciting fight.

All interesting points. I wonder how it will effect boxing if the PPV card, that boxing fans and even non boxing fans will be watching, turns out to be a shitty card. everyone will be watching this fight, and if its a Mayweather-ODLH type sparring session, that wont be good for boxing. Imho, this fight NEEDS to end in a knockout or at least have multiple knockdowns in order for it to be anything close to a sucess. Boxing cant afford for its biggest superfight in decades to be unexciting.

It will only disappoint those who are expecting:

    • Explosive action
    • A close and competitive contest
    • Pacquiao to win

Those of us expecting none of the above will not be disappointed. Just predictably uninspired.

it wont be an all out war but due to Floyds obsession with not losing and Pacquiaos momentum and competitiveness, you can count on both coming to win and not just looking for a payday. (Clottey, Mosley)

It won't be disappointing if both fighters showcase their best, Pac attacking relentlessly and Floyd defending and counterpunching effectively. It will only be disappointing if you expect a toe to toe war. I see the fight somewhere in the lines of a Mayweather-De La Hoya and Whitaker-Chavez. Unlike De La Hoya and Chavez, the difference here is that Pac will be faster, more active, will not gas, and will keep the action high until the 12th round where he will win a UD. Floyd's feather fists will do nothing to back up Pac. Didn't work for Cotto and Mosley, certainly won't work for Floyd. Pac will only slow down if he gets cut over the eye and hinders his vision like Morales I and Marquez II.

It wont be a disspaointing fight unless your a Pacquiao fan!! Because pac will get countered all night. it"ll be entaning because Pac will keep coming no matter what and will eventually hit mayweather with something, so the fight wont be boring at all

If your a boxing fan, no matter what happens itll be a great fight, but if your a casual fan who likes fireworks and brawl then it might not live up to the hype. Since this fight is going to be technical, requires alot of discipline and thinking inside the ring, maybe something Pacquiao hasnt faced or done before.

Just look at it this way,
How sure are we that Pacquiao will bull rush in throwing volume punches? about 80%
But he doesnt throw quite that many punches against moving fighters, then add that to fighters who can counter.

How sure are we that Floyd will be in defensive mode? about 90%
But then hes more offensive against southpaws because of the stance.

So the fight can totally be opposite, Floyd walking Pacquiao down, and Pacquaio trying to defend. Pacquiao will get tired faster than usual, you know why? because he needs to be thinking mentally everytime before he throws punches or combos. Evident to the Mosley fight, he doesnt really know what to do when hes punches are missing, but to keep doing the same predictable punches over and over.
