Where do you rate this alongside the all time great brawls ?
Is its lack of acknowledgement as a truly awe inspiring, classic battle totally down to the horrific outcome or was it just not that good anyway ?

Very good fight in spite of the tragic ending. Just not on par with the greatest fights ever in my opinion. That doesn't take away from it though as there have been tens of thousands of fights in history.

It was a thrilling fight, but it's difficult to celebrate it as such. The reason being that watching it back now, you can clearly see towards the end that McClellan is suffering internal trauma/injury, and is struggling to deal with it. Although I didn't really notice/think of this at the time, you can see it when you watch the fight again on dvd. That kills it for me, can't enjoy anything when you know someone is in that type of pain/fear. I don't think of it as a great fight now (which it was at the time), just think of it as a tragic, tragic event.

great fight and is still a great watch despite the bad ending, the last time Benn really truly entered a ring

The most exciting, most brutal slugfest war in history.

Nothing will ever top Benn-Mclellan i reckon.

It is the most thrilling violent fight I've seen on a live broadcast.
