I appreciate his boxing and that's what frustrating. He's good enough to put on a great, impressive performance but he doesn't. He chooses to win in scrappy fashion rather than go for something great. He has Showtime's backing and he's faced some big names, yet a few days ago, no threads were about this fight. Why? Because he has an awful, unentertaining style and that hurts his marketability.
Sounds like some of you guys have barely figured this out. All you gotta do is see him fight once to know that he had an ass ugly boring style... and that realization came to me years. He's the epitomy of 'doing anything to win.' Which unfortunately means putting on horrendousy dull fights and dirty, illegal tactics. Sad, considering that he probably has the talent to fight a more man-friendly style while still fighting effectively.
What's with the pissing motif? Are you R Kelly? Or Chuck Berry? The fact is, Ward is really boring. Can you imagine him inspiring a big fanbase outside of Oakland? I don't. And there really should be more attention paid to his excessive holding. People used to say Hatton held a lot, but at least he fought effectively on the inside. Ward just immediately ducks down and holds. That's his whole defense. Skilled fighter? Absolutely. But I'd never pay to watch his style of fighting.
The same people calling Andre Ward boring are the same people that are in love with the Klitschko sisters ever think of that ?
Kinda like Froch said how he would do the same? Ward will embarrass Froch, too bad Johnson just might do it first.
This was not entirely Ward's fault. The ref was going for Cortez's record of saying "Break", "Don't punch", "No punching"...in a bout. And it was actually an entertaining bout.
Froch didn't avoid a war. He just outboxed Abraham but whenever Abraham threw punches, Froch stood there and took them. Ward blatantly spoiled time and time again to avoid any sort of threat.
^that basically. I enjoy watching Ward because he's so skilled and versatile. He's proven he can fight inside, and its not like Abraham is going to be really effective there with such huge looping punches. Great boxing match.
