Great post and I agree completely. :good There are flaws and openings to exploit, but I'm not sure that there is a fighter with the necessary combination of attributes around today to be able to do so. Thus, Ward should have a long, solid reign. Perhaps Bute can do something, we'll see. I am not sure Froch can do much, but the more I watch Ward fight, the more I think Froch could do better than expected.
Honestly, he may have to carry USA boxing for awhile. As sad as that may seem. There is no clue as to whether or not Mayweather will fight again. Bradley? Not sure many care, and he may soon be lined up for Pacquiao, which means a likely "L." I love Tavoris Cloud, hopefully he can rise. Ward may have to be The Next Great USA Thing for a bit in boxing. By default. And he is being positioned to be just that.
I think he is great but lacks power a bit. For now at SMW he is fine but it will be a problem if he moves up. Eventually he has to as there are no opponents left in SMW after Froch. Maybe Martinez, but the dude is too ***** and preoccupied trying to get a pay day with smaller fighters.
He's effective, that's for sure and he's just damned good. But I want to hold out on the future ATG label. Who knows what the future holds for him? I want to see how he does against a guy who also has effective inside work. Miranda, Kessler, Green, and Abraham just don't really fit that bill.
it's pointless to put calzaghe in these fantasy matchups. no way joe takes part in the super six much less gets in the ring with someone like ward. if ward wins the super six, he's will have all ready surpassed calzaghe as the most accomplished 168 pounder ever.
Completely agree. :good I think you have to have a strong commitment to the jab against Ward. Froch has a stiff jab. But...I'm not sure if he has the rest of the tools to work off of it effectively in this match-up. Ward was bothered by AA's jab. As soon as AA abandoned the jab, the fight was literally taken away. I guess we'll see how Froch does, should he get by Glencoffee.
Settle down, unless you mean above the generic. Ward is talented but its a bit early to make such exaggerated predictions.
The Froch fight should be very, very interesting. He's got the kind of awkwardness and physicality that could be effective against Andre if he keeps working on the rest of his offense to go along with the jab. I think we'll see continued improvement from Froch when he beats Johnson. What happens there won't necessarily translate to the Ward fight, of course, but I think Froch's another fighter to where there's more to his game than first meets the eye and he's got the right mentality to keep improving.
