No. I admire that Ward does what it takes to win. Just don't whine when he isn't seeing big pay days, because no one wants to pay to see him fight.
Their job is to win, their value comes in entertainment. Just look through this forum and you'll see clear evidence that his stock keeps plummeting and that fewer and fewer fans want to see him fight. He'd better keep on winning for his sake because the moment he begins to take losses his cash value worth in this business will be rendered worthless.
Absolutely!!! He doesn't go into the ring dancing and clowing, doesn't take a bunch of photos in front of a bunch exotic over-price cars or with a bunch of gawdy jewelry...doen't flash of bunch cash and talk **** about other fighters or claim he's better than Ray Robinson or Ali. He's a good fighter that respects his opponents and his Sport. I was watching the post fight interview and listening to this humble-ass kid. And then when I come into ESB..."**** Ward", "He's a ***" Blah Blah Blah. They say don't Floyd for all of the "above reasons"....yet fighters that "look like Floyd" that does none of that....ARE STILL HATED!!! And so many other posters have NO PROBLEM in calling other posters RACIST....REALLY?:-(
Not true. The job of an athlete is to win and inspire. Ward does the first, but doesn't have the mentality to do the second. I don't pay to watch an athlete simply win. I pay to be entertained and amazed. Pac entertains me. Floyd amazes me. Ward bores me.
I don't dislike him, I don't really care either way. I think he is skillful, but would prefer if he wasn't such a dirty ****er. I also don't like anyone who is overtly religious. Keep that **** private, thanks - it's like being gay. I don't want to see Andre "cocksucker" Ward, why do I want to see this SOG ****? ***gots, like Jesus freaks, love to push their abnormalities onto decent folks. I wish they wouldn't.
Exactly. You tune into boxing to be ENTERTAINED by a fight. If the fighter himself makes the fight unbearable to watch then why tune in?
As a neutral I have nothing against him. He is good and skillful. I would like to see him travel outside of the USA though which I think is unfair. Also, I think the super middleweight division is slightly over rated. I think the average fan assumes the division is better than other divisions simply because of name recognition. If we had 140 super 6 the competition would be better even if the names were less known. Same goes for 122.
So what your are saying is that the rest 10% are black americans that likes him just because he is black!? in my ears it sounds just as crazy.. No, i think the real reason is his fighting-style and the fact that he is the only one in this tournament who had all his fights at home.
He is like the MMA fighter Georges St. Pierre (GSP): Both fight not to lose rather than go all-out to win. Some don't like that style. GSP has lost a large portion of his fan base, including in his native Canada, because of how he fights now (he used to fight differently). That's just part of the territory. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. went through the same thing (unhappy fans), at least partly based on his fighting style. For those who like Ward and have previously moaned about how Wlad Klitsckho fights: Don't be hypocrites. Wlad gets more KO's than does Ward, so if you criticize Wlad for his "boring" style and holding, then one would think you would criticize Ward for a similar style plus the "dirty" tactics. Unless there is another agenda afoot. Personally, I have nothing against Ward. For American fight fans, he may be the best choice for a current, undefeated American prospect who we know has not, possibly, hung them up (Floyd). There are other Americans in a similar spot, but Ward is probably the most-noted among them.
You think it's not true that an athletes job is to win? atsch Maybe Ward should sing and dance in between rounds :good
