He's worst than Wlad?

I've heard it all. Give me a break. You guys are absolutely delusional, and lack respect and appreciation for a true marvel of versatility and well-rounded boxing ability. Unreal!

How about he's a true boxing fan that appreciates technique, skills, and ability and you're someone probably with a short enough attention span to be a fan of MMA. :good

    :good

I wasn't around here at the time, but I don't doubt Jack was praising Ricky "Maul, grab, hit" Hatton during his reign.

Every single one of Ward's fights was infinitely better and more exciting than Haye-Valuev for **** sake.

Everyone of these Brits loved Hatton. Remember Hattons fight with Urango? Oh God.

Andre Ward boxed extremely well and he was the one pressing the action most of the time anyway.

If Ward wasn't fighting a guy with a shell like defense, most of you wouldn't say that because he would have busted Arthur's face up. What was he suppose to do...throw a thousand punches on Arthur's gloves like Pacquiao did with Clottey ?

Guys with true boxing skills don't fight like they're in a phone booth...they outbox their opponents and that's what Ward did brilliantly.

Wards a nice rarity, a well rounded, relatively complete fighter. There aren't many of those getting around.

He isn't the most exciting stylistically, but i find him interesting purely by way of how good he is. Froch and Bute will be hurdles for him but if he can get past those two its hard to see anyone getting between Ward and an impressive reign.

**** off. Don't make assumptions about me based on my opinion. I've been watching and enjoying boxing for over 30 years, starting with Hagler's dismantling of Minter. I was hooked after that. My first hero was Hagler. Loved his versatility, intelligence, will, and killer instinct. He didn't fight to win -- he fought to FINISH.

Loved Duran's tazmanian devil fury, Leonard's speed and skills, Hearn's huge punch. These were icons of the sport. I loved to watch Chavez fight, Tyson, Roy Jones's amazing ability to pull a KO punch from behind his back, Gatti's amazing come-from-behind guts, Holmes's workman jab, Glenn Johnson, Calzaghe's pure will...****, I'm missing a million, but these are all inspiring fighters.

What can I say? Ward is a great guy. Tough. Talented. But ****ing boring and frustrating to watch. That's not prejudice or hate, it's just the observation of someone who loves the best of this sport. Nothing I hate worse than a no-nothing fanboy riding a fighter's wave of victories and building him into some sort of superhuman. I respect Ward's ability. But I don't find him exciting. He grabs. He ducks under every offensive move by the opponent and loops his arms around their waist. Over and over again. It makes for a halting, staccato fight that never feels as though it got started. And while he can be effective offensively, he doesn't go for the kill. Maybe it's the video game mentality of this generation: anything less than a perfect score is no good, so they protect that 0 at any cost, even at the cost of boring the audience.

Lol excuse Ward for avoiding punches! Sounds like you are the one who is stuck in this mentality of 'go for the kill.' It aint your kid in the ring. God bless our young fighters for perfecting a craft and preserving their well being. This isnt the old days anymore. This kids who give their lives to the sport deserve more than this bull**** 'oh hes boring' oh doesnt 'go for the kill' stick to the barbaracy of ufc and stay far away from boxing. Fans like you are what is wrong with sports these days.

Didn't headbutt? You mean didn't headbutt as much?

Didn't see the slowmo of one landing on AA's jaw?

Yeah, like in his fight against Roberto Duran? Yeah we get it, you like aggressive minded fighters with a good chin or fighters that can straight up punch.

And it's not like Ward doesn't try to go for the kill. There is no real "kill" with his fights. He's not a huge puncher, and the guys not going to do anything stupid just to "finish the fight." By the way, Holmes didn't always go for the kill either.

It seems you prefer offensive minded fighters. That's fine, but the video game mentality is more about the quick fast, got to get the KO I'm ADD than protecting any 0's. You made fair points though. It's all good. Hey, I enjoy the guy because I appreciate his skills and ability. You're not a fan of his style, fine. But Ward's a high volume fighter. Not a fighter purposely negative. And knocking other boxing fans for appreciating that is messed up.

Please. Get off your high ****ing horse. If you're so concerned about fighters protecting themselves, why not mandate they wear headgear and 20oz gloves? I don't have a problem with fighters who are able to avoid punishment. Floyd does it brilliantly. But he doesn't do it by grabbing the other dude every time the offense heats up. But if you want to live in your little world of extremes, then fine. Let's make it easy for you: I like fighters with killer instincts, therefore I should watch the UFC. I like to see action fighters who take risks, so I must be what's wrong with the sport these days. That's some nice, nuanced arguing skills you got there.

Not knocking other fans, I don't think. I stated an opinion and am defending it.
