mate you and the Seppos are the only ones in the western world who have not switched to metric...
it was adopted in France in 1700's and is based on the metre and gram...Metric is easier to handle mathematically, and metric measurements make scientific calculations far easier than imperial.

    time to evolve....

Don't expect the Brits to change any time soon. They still haven't cottoned on to using three judges for most of their domestic fights. It's still referee only decisions.Probably because they're too mean to pay the officials.
The dinosaur mentality lives on. :D

Evolve ? all you need to know is your grand kids will be speaking slope and getting paid in yaun i will stick to pounds and ounces along with the septics if it's ok with you . the original question is still out there for any one who is interested , When did Australia switch to using kilo's etc in boxing or have you followed the French all along ?

being that my wife is Asian there is a good chance that my kids will be bi-lingual
monetary wise we changed in 1966
as for measurement i believe it started in the early 70's and was gradually introduced over the next decade or so...car manufacturers began putting km/h in mid 70's... as for when it was introduced into boxing i am not 100% sure but probably by early 80's would be my guess
anyway i am off to study some "slope" so i can converse with my future children

just to assist you in future racist remarks... the Chinese ("slopes"as you call them) use the currency called the Yuan...not the yaun

nup...disagree...If an opponent couldn't be found for Kirby then the Title match up should've been shelved...it takes away from the prestige of the title when ringin's start bein' brought in...regardless of how good Edwards is or who he's knocked out...JMO

Shannon Taylor fought for the Aussie welter(?) title in his third fight. And as confirmed by the Draw, a worthy match up, in fact I'd go so far as to say Ben showed the better boxing skills of the two. However, lets just agree to disagree on this one, Darkhorse.

If Ben and Mik lost 10kg each, they would be dangerous and the fight would be awesome.
