Ward put on a boxing masterclass last night. I found it very entertaining the way he shut Arthur down but he also threw a lot of punches. A lot of Brits in this thread embarrassing my country.
It must be hard when your favourite boxer is retired, isn't it? Maybe you should go on the classic forum...
i enjoyed wards performance last night...i can see how people might be bored by the one-sidedness of it but thats hardly wards fault.
Every single time I've watched Ward "fight" I want to watch MMA afterwards. It is almost as if the present set of boxing rules doesn't allow for the punches that can stop Ward's spoiling tactics. Or, it would be nice if the ref addressed Ward with something like "don't bend and rush forward with your head first…don't hold…don't headbutt…don't butt with your left arm...etc…etc." How many times did Ward's head land under AA's left arm! As for entertainment value I'd like to quote my girlfriend when I asked if she wanted see the fight. She went "…I'd rather eat a ball of steel wool than watch Ward fight."
The reason Ward cannot afford to be more exciting is because he doesn't have the chin/power package required.
I thought last nights fight wasn't too bad actually and Abraham's lack of effectiveness would have been more to blame if you didn't care for the fight. Some of Ward's fights haven't been very exciting but, overall, he isn't bad from an entertainment standpoint.
This is the only type of thread Jack makes. Ugh... Boxing is about winning. Sure it is nice to be entertaining, but if you aren't winning it doesn't matter much.
