Who do you rate higher p4p? Duran or Griffith?

Emile Griffith or Roberto Duran? Are they close for you? Why/why not?

 

Despite the fact that in my P4P lists so far Duran was inside top 10 most of the times it can change if I learn more about Griffith .
Seems like had it wasn't for the Paret tragedy his record would have looked even better , who knows how much better .
So he probably was a better fighter than is given credit for , and it can not be seen in videos post the Paret #3 fight .. just prior to it.
The only significance of the videos post Paret #3 is to judge if it really changed his style , but this can be asked here :
Have Griffith' style changed significantly post Paret #3 ?

 

I think they are not too far in terms of overall quality as I read that Duran was a very dirty fighter as a LW , not to mention he had a habbit of getting decked as early as then.

 

Griffith would make my top 30. As such, they're not really close.

 

Getting decked? Lol, two knockdowns to DeJesus is a habit? Are Griffiths knockdowns to Paret and Carter also a habit?

 

sure only 2 ? yet even if i was a little wrong about this one , still just an if and just a little , the rest of my argument still stands solid.

 

I'll agree with the "over all quality" of each fighter, but the dirty fighter part means nothing unless he was actually DQ'd. And Duran was certainly more dominant in his prime. Thats no knock on Griffith, but a fact!

Duran is just better

 

Emile Griffith was a class act and it would not be out of place to compare him with anyone. Having said that, I would like to state that Roberto Duran definitely ranks higher than him on the p4p list.

 

Well since you've only "read" he was a dirty fighter, can you name me a fighter in history who wasn't dirty at one time or another? Boxing ain't a game of marbles.

Duran by quite a bit. Domination at Lightweight, never losing. Moved up to WW defeating Top 25 P4P Sugar Ray Leonard and then in addition winning titles at 154 and 160.

Emille Griffith is a good fighter and a Top 40 one but, I think Duran is on a different level on both H2H and P4P at their respective weights.
