Because while the sport itself is quality... the UFC's marketing lends itself being labeled a bit crude.

Not that I agree, it is just targeted to young White males, but after about 15 minutes of power cords, metal yells, t-shirts drawn by epileptics, zit covered backs, etc... it gets to be a bit much.

Also, if you watch both sports and seen MMA evolve, you have to admit that the guys are now in a stage where the ground game has progress to where now MMA, in a lot of cases, is just REALLY bad Boxing with smaller gloves and take down attempts. (Boxing can have its bore fests too.)

US the mecca of boxing. They got May and Ward. .............Both are extremely talented fighters, but the only thing they bring to table, is...............that boxing fans will watch every fight in hope they will be KO-ed...

Next biggest fight will be MAY vs. PAC and WARD vs. Froch......

Indeed, one instinctively cheers for the norse warrior Gods such as Kessler, Nielsen, and Juergen Braehmer -- heroes of the sport, willing to die in battle for the glory of their nations.

I never said any different. I actually praised Ward by saying that he's good enough to not need to resort to such tactics. Come on...he ducked low and held Abraham every time Abraham got close. Yes, it's effective but it's also spoiling and killed what could have been a very fun bout.

You guys kill me, the Ward hate-hysteria brings out the mental demons like nothing else. It's an extraordinary syndrome -- what other mental infirmity can bring about such whining, hysterical, and sobbing petulance in grown men (or boys, as the case may be)?

I can only imagine the pitch of hysteria this place will take on when Ward beats Froch. One will be able to hear the high-pitched squeals and whines from miles away -- I will be personally concerned for "Jack"s mental well-being, and wonder whether it might not be a smart thing for him to start mentally visualizing Ward raising his hand in victory now, so that he will be prepared in advance for the terrible anguish it will all cause him.

And now, after this brief interlude, let the unmanly Ward-whining continue merrily along!

Well, nobody was talking about this fight in the run up to it. The only reason I knew it was this weekend was because they said so on Sky Sports and I had to check when it was. It wasn't a significant fight in the eyes of many. You know it wasn't a big fight when ESB doesn't crash after it

That's purely because Ward isn't a good enough entertainer. If he was, his fights would be bigger than they are and, as a knock on effect, he'd be closer to being a superstar and he'd be richer.

Of course though, winning is the most important thing but how you win is also important in becoming a star.

You're right, Jack. Ward should have not ducked at all. He should have let the punches hit him directly in the center of the face, just for kicks and to give the audience a good show.

I kind of agree with you, and for the record you aren't the sort of guy I was talking about. You seem to know what your talking about unlike Ufcsucks...

You do understand you don't need to break the rules to defend yourself, right?

If you are a fan of boxing, then watching Ward's footwork, particularly in tight, and the manner in which he puts punches together is very entertaining.

if you are a fan of the science you can appreciate even the most tedious of fights, there in it to win it and nothing else

That's exactly it. It wasn't good defense, it was a flagrant disregard for the rules, and by the letter of the law he should have been warned, docked points and ultimately dismissed from the contest. I appreciate great technical skills, I'm not adverse to tactical holding and so on, but when your entire defense is pure cheating, that's not so good.

That's why future opponents need to hit him on the back of his head just as he's going down. It'll take good timing, but you can't be blamed for doing that if your opponent is ducking - It's fair game, and you'll likely knock him out if you time it correctly.

Hey Leif. Long time boxing fan - but this time you had to comment...!

You are spot on...............Ward is dirty and if one fighter who can hit him on the back of the head - it is Froch.......

The super six winner will very well be staged at where the venue takes place.............(and Froch will not be bullied this time, so will the fight ever be on ??)
