You can have all the skils you want but boxing is as much about entertainment as it is about winning. How many goof americans are there is the heavyweight division that would beat haye? You doofuss
The fight was no worse than Froch/Abraham. Abraham is the one that makes it a stinker by not doing anything round after round. Ward did all he could, outbox a static target that is only trying to keep a high guard and not do anything.
Oh shut the **** up, you limey *****. The US has dominated the HW division for years, and Haye wouldn't warrant inclusion on any list of Top American heavies.
I've made it through page 1 and it's pretty obvious this is the "Butthurt Euro's" thread so I'll leave you guys too it.
I feel absolutely no attachment to an Armenian (Armenia isn't in Europe by the way) who lives in Germany, my countries biggest enemy. Doesn't change the fact Andre Ward is seriosuly boring, and pretty dirty too. Blame it on Abraham for doing nothing much other than keep his hands up and plod if you want, but he's been just as boring in all his other high profile fights. Probably why he went from 10,000 fans against Kessler to just under 6,000 last night.
Give me a ****ing break! AA threw NINE punches in one round. NINE! If your opponent just hides behind his guard for twelve rounds and never throws, what are you supposed to do? All you can do is try to work under and around the guard and land some clean combos, which he did. It takes two fighters to make a good fight.
I'd first hope Froch gets by Johnson, which isn't a shot at Froch (I like Froch and respect his ability) but Johnson is a tough out for anyone.
(repost) I live 2 miles from where they fought at the Home Depot Center in Carson. I debated whether to watch live or not. Looks like I didn't miss much, a one-sided clinic. Even though Cintron pissed me off by the acting job he did when he fought Paul Williams, that fight I saw live at the same venue was a 100 times more exciting than what took place tonight. Overall, if Andre Ward stepped up his offense and quickened up the pace a bit, I'd be more of a fan. As it stands, I'm glad I saved the $25 ticket and $15 parking fee that I might have spent watching this snoozefest. I blame Arthur Abraham just as much for not being more active (lack of stamina).
Cintron Williams was exciting to you because you were there dummy. Don't compare a fight you watched live to one you didn't.
Because you call as elitist for appreciating the sweet science and true talent. :good Admire your honesty.
There are skillful fighters that are better to watch than Ward. It has nothing to do with not appreciating "skill" in boxing. Whittaker and Mayweather are more skilled and better defensively yet they are MUCH more entertaining. Jones when fighting at his safest was a much better watch. I am giving examples of some of the best ever, because there are less skillful technicians that were/are better than Ward and are/were more fun to watch.
