    The Good:

Looks in really good shape, nice jab, sometimes a few nice jabs in a row, nice combinations & he went in for the kill when he had his opponent hurt. He also cut off the ring very well.

    The Bad:

Even with the lower weight he gassed very early, he took too many punches so his defense isn't very good. Zero head movement and I think his power is way over rated. He landed many flush shots and didn't even knock Nagy down. Also he telegraphs his punches too much, not that Nagy wasn't a sitting target most of the fight.

    Summary:

He's def. improving and this was a step in the right direction. I'd like to see him improve and possibly challenge Wladimir or rematch Vitali after a few more wins over better competition than last night's opponent.

Good analysis Ruskull. I wasn't sure what to expect, but Aguilera seems that his best night of boxing ever will be his 1 round destruction of Oleg. I must say, it appears Aguilera has a good Chin!

Yes, I too think his power is overrated. If he fights that hard every night out 1 of 2 things will happen - he will gas out early, or he will get the TKO as in this fight. I was impressed.

I was impressed by the shape he's gotten into also. Decent opponent, hope he keeps going in the right direction he's an exciting heavyweight but gets hit too much.

He still has a reckless style and no defense but now he lost some of his power. I don't see his def getting better so he will always stay a C level fighter.

He should have to actually earn it this time by beating someone like Povetkin, Chagaev, Helenius, etc.

Yes, it was good to see Arreola losing 20lbs. It showed especially on his face. However, I have a hunch that Arreola will gain the 20lbs back in no time flat, being an admitted food junkie. Best thing his team could do is to keep him fighting often, which they've done so far. Arreola seems to be on the right track, lets see how he does when he steps it up a notch and challenges a top 10 fighter.

Chris is still fat and still fights like a club fighter. He is done, his place as a gatekeeper is secure.

Somehow I didn't recognize Ronnie Shields if he was in the corner last night. Can someone clarify if he was there?

Although Arreola is not good technically, there aren't many HW gatekeepers around who can throw punches in combinations like he does. Arreola does throw many punches.

Yep. The "getting hit too much" part was the worst with the "gassing in the second round" a close second. Being in shape is more than just lower weight. Seems like he needs more road work and head movement.

    Agreed 100%

If he fought and beat Helenius, Chagaev or Povetkin he would def. deserve another shot. I think Vitali beats him again regardless but I'd be more interested in seeing him against Wladimir's power & jab.

I was especially impressed with him landing a stiff jab 3 times in a row, not that Nagy was hard to hit, but it showed accuracy in combination.

Good to see Arreola getting back to a much more acceptable weight last night. Aguillera isn't anything great and Arreola did what he was suppose to do with him. Arreola has put together 3 straight wins over ok competiton and needs to fight a top ten guy now. I think Arreola would make for a logical opponent for Wlad if he ever decides to fight in America again so I wouldn't be shocked to see Arreola keep beating guys on this level while waiting for a big shot but I'd really like to see him challenge another higher rated fighter.

I wouldn't say Arreola is not good technically. He has solid technique in some areas, but his defense is third-rate. He really needs to work on avoiding shots. He gets hit with predicable punches that he should see coming from a mile away and avoid.

He still cant deal with movement.

At the top level opponents arent going to lay on the ropes for him.

A tiger can't change it's stripes. But it can lose weight, beat up some more c-level fighters, and possibly get another title shot at some point.
