Well, in terms of action, "Pack-Mosley" is the biggest PPV flop.

    Folks,

I hate to say it, but I sensed "Pack-Mosley" was gonna fizzle and be a letdown in the action department. I also was critical of all the hoopla and overrated press hype that had been brewing since the late fall of 2010, as well. Bottom line: "Something Had To Give."

Overall, the PPV and coverage was a huge success, however, the fight didn't meet the hype surrounding the event. It wasn't even close.

Now, on the whole, in all my 30+ years that I have been following boxing, I must say that both "Pack-Mosley" and "Leonard-Duran 3" have been the worst high-profiled fights on PPV to go the full distance, with "Tito-DLH" riding the caboose. The biggest farce of all-time on PPV is without a doubt "Tyson-McNeeley" of 1995. But Tyson's fights with "Spinks & Seldon" were also god awful rip-the-public-off affairs.

Myself, I have boycotted Manolo Pacquiao's last three PPV's beginning with his snoozer over Josh Clottely. I'm sorry, but I'm a littled chapped raw with what team Pacquiao has been cherry-picking the last year and a half.

As for "Shot" Shane Mosley, well, take your money from them last two fights / loses to "Mayrunner & Packy" that equates to roughly $15 million dollars and retire from the game. Nobody will PPV Mosley anymore.

I'd prefer if team Pacquiao would see the light and dip down to 140 and go for J.M. Marquez there; not at 145 pounds like team Pacquiao is claiming it must be. That's hogwash.

    Any comments?

You saved a good 65 dollars. As disappointing as the fight was, Pac still knocked down Mosley which people were happy with. Pac did all he could to entertain the fans. It was Mosley who didn't put up with his end of the bargain.

I paid for both of them and I hosted both parties. Used my part time job money to have a McNeeley fight at my parent's house.

It had to have been like 20 or 30 dollars. but yeah, McNeeley f'n SUCKED and he STILL got endorsements through Pizza hut.

That TV commercial was insulting to the PPV subscribers..... Team McNeeley got rewarded for flopping in front of the whole world inside of a lousy round against Tyson... Team McNeeley banked decent cabbage from that ad from Pizza Hut...

No, the biggest fight to not deliver was Tyson vs Lewis. A fight that happened 10 years to late. Talk about hype. Plexiglas separated them at press conference. Police officer in the ring while ref gave instruction. When the bell rang it was a one sided beat down.

Blame Shane. I still have much respect for him but he stopped taking chances once he got hurt, which is fine for a round or two, not the rest of the entire fight.

Disagree here. I saw Tyson's beating comin' in 2002 from Lewis. Especially when ex-Tyson trainer Thomas Brooks picked Lewis to win...

First I just wanna ask why Tyson vs Spinks ripped off the public? Sure it ended early but Spinks was no bum like Mcneely or Ettiene. I know he had bad knees and had been inactive, but it was a good fight on paper that ended in one round. That's just the cost of doing business when your a boxing fan.

I agree that Pac vs Mosley really didn't live up to the hype as far as action goes, for all the reasons outlined above. I don't think it was terrible tho. As a boxing fan I enjoyed the fight and it went pretty much like alot of people expected it to. I think FMJ vs Oscar was hyped more and left more to be desired. Although I've come to appreciate that fight more on rewatches, it was something of a let down live.

I know your focusing on high profile fights. While not hyped nearly as much, you can't ignore turds like Hopkins vs Jones II, Mosely vs Mora, Floyd vs Baldomir. Then there are the outlandish ones, like Holyfield's recent fights they have the nerve to charge for.

Folks' have pointed out that the overall KO was not spectacular even with a half dozen camera's filming the waxing in June 1988... Tyson threw a side-armed right that clipped Spinks' supposed solid head and dropped him on his back... People expected a lot more of a fight by Spinks... That 1988 PPV reaked in Atlantic City... However, the undercard of Bus Douglas kayoing Mike Williams was KOOL!

YES . . . but we can't blame the fighter who wants to mix it up and pushed for the action.

Clottey was somewhat expected to be fully defensive . . . Mosley was expected to throw punches and be real competitive until he gassed out. :deal
