Haye is an inner city council estate thug, is that really going to appeal to a lot of people?

Haye appeals to people like him, people with class don't like the guy.

a lot of bruno's big fights were shown free on the BBC or ITV (bonecrusher smith, anders eklund, quick tillis, joe bugner, gerry coetzee, and the fights with tim witherspoon (which was massive in the uk) and mike tyson (the first fight)
most of david haye's big fights are on sky ppv and appeal (mostly) to hardcore boxing fans only, haye's doing a lot to try and cross over into the mainstream (appearing on as many tv shows as he can get on), but i dont think he will ever come close to achieving the affection peole have for frank bruno.

 

If haye wins he will be bigger than Bruno

Haye will never be as popular as Bruno in the UK - not even if he gives all his money away to charity. People tend to 'feel' for those who has started from humble beginnings with a 'good head' and an 'honest heart'. They want to see a person working hard to achieve their goals - a classic 'rag to riches' story so they will be proud whenever his name is mentioned. Haye definately would not fit into these categories due to his 'arrogant' and 'opportunistic' approach to business. But will Haye care? Absolutely not because his 'aim' is to get as much out of the 'business' as possible before he retires. Sports Personality of the Year? A Royal Knighthood? No,thank you. Haye know what he wants and popularity will not be high on his list!

Bruno was massively popular before the Tyson fights - He had a virtual double act with Harry Carpenter - He even had a catchphrase which all popular impersonators of the time used to use - His fights on terrestrial TV attracted millions of viewers - It was big TV news when he lost to Bonecrusher and he fought Witherspoon at wembley stadium.
Haye will never in a million years be as populars as Bruno, Benn, Hatton, Naz, Calzaghe and he wasnt as charasmatic as Eubank when he was the villain..
Hell I think Gary Mason is more popular than Haye - He had a great terrestrial TV run.

I'm serious..Haye portrayed Wlad as Ivan Drago..people are loving him. I can see Wlad getting a lot of love when he punishes Haye and knocks him out.

A lot of people had & still have genuine affection for Bruno, how can you not love that guy (no homo)

Haye's popularity relies more on his success than his personality when compared to Bruno

We often seem to connect better with a humble, gallant & heroic figure who falls just short than a confident & brash champion

Hamed & Calzaghe were more successful but never as beloved as Bruno & Hatton by the general British public imho.

 

Brunos chin was miles better than Vlads

Bruno was stopped by Tyson and Lewis and Bonecrusher Smith and Witherspoon, those 4 are very hard punchers. He finished three of those fights on his feet, Tyson 1+2 and Lewis.

How many times was Bruno down?

And how many times was Wlad on his ass ????
