George Foreman Vs Joe Louis

Louis by TKO. great fight. one where Louis has to get off the floor to win. Louis's pinpoint accurate combos would find foreman easily and would eventually lead to the stoppage.

 

The great, overrated Joe Louis gets knocked out! No head movement spells a KO loss to the bigger, harder punching Foreman. Deal with it you delusional Joe Louis fans.

Many over-rate Louis's capacity to deal with someone as large and powerful as Foreman. Not that it wouldn't be a competitive bout, but ultimately Foreman would make Louis fall not unlike Frazier.
Plus as I said earlier, Louis was NOT a smart fighter. He had nature skills, but a tini-tiny brain. He would have attempted to stand to long directly in front of George, and that would be his ass.
There was NO rope-a-dope intelligence in Louis.

joe louis is regarded by many as the greatest ever heavyweight, foreman isnt.

im definitely a big joe louis fan, but styles make fights and i dont think size is the issue here, i think its the match up in styles.

on one hand u have a tight compact technician with fast, accurate, powerful combinations

on the other a huge heavy handed knock out artist that in his prime was very reckless

both great knock out kings, for me though Joe Louis demonstrates flawless boxing ability

Foreman was robotic and threw wide looping hooks, Louis would bust him up for walking in like that. Louis had a great jab and Foreman would be kept off balance while eating combinations. Louis wins by KO, no doubt about it.

 

Louis was all ring lore says he was as a fighter and much loved by all. Joe's first fights with Schmeling and Conn showed Joe didn't like to back up or could not well enough to get off the train tracks. Schmeling stopped Joe and Conn whipped Joe for most of 12 rounds until Joe got lucky in the 13th rd. Conn decided not to back up and went for the ko, Joe ko'ed Conn.

Joe was not hard to hit. Big George would hit Joe. Joe Louis would go just like Joe Frazier who did have head movement but short arms and legs.

Louis, Frazier and Tyson all were killer punchers but styles make fights and all of their styles dictate that they go to Big George. Not a good fight plan at all! I pick Big George by K.O. Foreman would throw some looping punches put due to their differing statures Louis would be in the killing zone where power counts. No one ever beat Big George toe to toe Joe Louis wouldn't either but he would give it a good try. Big George by K.O. Louis would have a puncher's chance early on until he went down.

 

Foreman by KO. Louis although the better boxer wouldn't be able to overcome the sheer physical advantages BG would have had.

 

Joe got dropped by numerous fighters. None had the power or maybe even the speed of George's bombs. If Geroge lands one, Joe wouldn't get up. And George would likely land more than one.

Foreman by KO. Probably sooner rather than later.

 

Louis vs (Max) Baer. Thats what happens. Max and George are similar sorts of fighters, with Foreman being a bit more rounded with his hammer of a jab. Still, they're both very stronger sluggers who rely more on their strength and power to wreck their competition. Louis took apart Max in four rounds, Max showed an impressive chin, but no chin holds up to flush 6 punch combinations from a hitter like Louis.

I remember all the conventional wisdom said Frazier would eat a young rookie like Foreman alive. The same or similar reasoning as given here in support of Louis. We all know how Foreman handled Frazier. Overall stature and power must be factored into the equation. Big George still had it during his second ring career. Though somewhat slower he still made the young bloods and studs give way. AVAST you Pups! Let a big dog reign again.

 

Baer was a naturally very powerful puncher. But he didn't seem to have the skillset or stamina of recent fighters. He lost his belt to the built up LHW, Cinderella Man, JJ Braddock. Beating Max Baer, probably offers little reference for fighting a later day real bear, Foreman who had much better skills.

For that matter, Braddock, the built up LHW, dropped Louis early in the fight where Louis won the title. Louis would get dropped by George and probably woudn't get up (in time).

 

Louis busts him up and stops him in the mid rounds.

Fast, straight, hard punchers are Foreman's Kryptonite.

 

From what I've gathered Max had a reputation for partying and not focusing on his training, one of the reasons why he lost his fight to Braddock I believe (and of course Braddocks own iron will not to be denied). Braddock was known for having a mean left hook, and a lot of smaller fighters were known for being pretty hellacious punchers such as Marciano, Patterson and Dempsey, even at heavyweight.

Max for his own credit was a very very good fighter, who handed out beating to the likes of Primo Carnera and Max Schmeling. Not George Foreman, but a very good fighter and best comparison to Big George himself I think.
