Should Sky introduce variable pricing for pay per views?

I think we are pretty lucky that it has stayed at that price in all honesty when you think the price rises in other things. Though i suppose we are being subject to more PPV's of a lesser quality.

 

Heres a idea............

I pay Sky £50 a month to provide me a Sports service, they even have a package called "Sky Sports" which you pay for, and on that service i pay for they give me Sport.

Why do i pay Sky Sports to show me Sports, then they want to charge me again to watch Sports.....

 

Why not reintroduce an incentive for ordering the PPV early.

Price it at 9.99 for the first several days the fight is on sale and then two weeks before the actual fight rise the price to 14.99.

Sky did this a good few years back and it was almost always tipped the balance for me when it came to ordering a PPV.

i have no idea what the motivation is behind showing only 3 fights, makes zero sense.

it will only alienate viewers who paid grudgingly, seeing Nelson dick about for the remainder of the broadcast is not entertainment, bores me to ****ing tears.

 

Halving the price to get double the buyers may sound good for the fans, but not really viable for Sky Sports. They know that boxing fans will fork out extra for a domestic bill, and they also know that they'll be happy to pay £15.

This Saturday's bill is hardly what you'd call a major event, and the boxers are not what you would call "Household names". I doubt whether dropping the price would pull in a whole load of casual fans. They might as well screw as much as they can from the "proper" boxing fans.

 

Why are fans so keen to pay for PPV? Boxers are already cashing in on phoney world titles solely endorsed by corrupt governing bodies to sell their fights. Many are using these titles to avoid their main rivals and barely make their divisions top ten.

David Haye for example has not proven himself the best in his division so in the parrallel non-boxing real world that other sports fans live in he doesn't deserve to be called world champion. So let's see Sky try to flog these fights without the phoney world title tags and see just how well they can.

 

surely something needs to be done about the lack of exposure for these fighters, the man on the street has no idea who degale cleverly groves and gavin are, how can this sell long term?

i don't mind paying ppv for this but they need to have some fights on normal sky just so people know who they are, warren is the best promoter in britain but surely he sees this as a problem.

 

I don't think people care so much these days about alphabet soup titles. Sky seem to have the attitude that if they say a bill/fight is PPV, then fans will assume that it's bound to be good and will happily cough up.

And Sky would be right.
