Just wondering what you guys do for your televisual requirements. I have Sky but am moving house in just over a month and last time I checked there was no Sky Sports on Virgin and if BT Vision existed it would surprise me. This would appear to have changed and I suppose what I really would like to know is if Virgin and BT customers have to go without anything? For example are Primetime and Premier Sports available? (This is less of an issue now Froch is on Sky and I don't currently subscribe to Premier). I know very little about BT Vision and the website is confusing as hell. I would guess that my TV tastes aren't unique! The only TV I watch is boxing, so Sky Sports, ESPN and Box Office is a must, HD is preferred and all other TV is completely optional. I will need broadband of some typical variety. I know threads like this exist already but in the fast paced and competitive cut throat world we live in they become irrelevant pretty quick.
Virgin has SBO, Sky Sports (obviously an extra), ESPN I think comes with Sky Sports package or if not on one of the more basic TV packages. You can get Primetime but not Premier Sports. The broadband is among the quickest compared to the quoted speed on most of the tests.
So it looks like a toss up between Virgin and Sky. Virgin has the broader bands required for extreme downloads but no Premier :think Is Box Office in HD on Virgin? And... for the sake of impartiality what IS the deal with FreeSat?
Seems like a good, affordable choice. Having only SS1 and SS2 isn't a massive deal as Ward/AA on SS3 on Sunday was an exception as opposed to the rule. Not having SBO is a deal breaker for me though.
Do not get Virgin, just don't. They are absolutely ****ing useless and their boxes are ridiculously slow and ****. Just don't. If you can afford it, stick with Sky.
I have recently moved to virgin from sky, whilst in happy about the faster broadband I'm mortifiedwith the quality of the tv. Set-top box is a piece of shot and slow as ****, but I can now watch fights online which I couldn't do previously so that's the deal for me. Ideal scenario would be sky tv and virgin for net
I have Virgin and I'm very happy with it, especially the broadband speed, although that depends on location to a large degree. I have phone (including line rental), broadband, TV XL package, ESPN and Sky Sports and pay about £60 per month. I think that's good value.
stick with sky and get Premier, they show some quality fights and all for £5.99 a month. stay with sky:deal
Sky seems to be the way to go. I'll go to one of the kiosks and screw them for as much as I can get, play them against Virgin if I can. Thanks for all the advice guys.
