"I think it is [necessary for boxing]. I would welcome it. I think it's great. That way there is no confusion about who's playing on an even playing field. This is a dangerous sport. You hear whispers about guys, what they're doing and not doing. You have to figure out who's going to pay for it, but once we get past that - I think it should be something that's implemented in every big fight," Ward said.

If only they do this at the commission level then we might have something really good going on.

    Meanwhile... Talk is cheap.

it's not a fair playing field if one guy gets randomly tested a couple of hours before a weigh in and he's been struggling to make weight and it ****s with his head.

it's not a fair playing field if one guy is being made to randomly test very often while his opponent isn't.

it's not a fair playing field if one guy is inactive for long periods of time and only rarely subjected to testing while a more active fighter is being tested all year round.

    etc. etc. etc.

I'd rather no blood tests than tests than can throw a fighter off or give one fighter an advantage over the other.

The tests should be implemented year round, not on a "big fight basis" which would just invite unfairness.

Get it to the commission level and follow the guidelines of OSDT, then all I can say good for the sport.

In the meantime... Talk is cheap.

Victor Conte, Ward's supplier, is now WADA's big gun....a match made in heaven. The dude who supplies you with your supplements also is on the testing side of things.

Of course Ward's going to support the strictest WADA testing possible- because he knows as long as he sticks with Conte, he'll never test positive!
