I think I've seen Thread Stealer debunk the same myth about 30 times now. Still, nobody listens. :verysad

I swear, some people listen.

Seriously though, Pacquiao-Pryor is a better matchup than Leonard-Pacquiao (and Leonard-Pryor).

I rarely match up Pacquiao (and Mayweather) with greats at WW. At lower divisions though, it's a different story.

Leonard by TKO. That's the worst possible match up for Pac IMO

If SRL would fight flat footed and Pac would fight like he did against ODLH, then this could be interesting.

Other than that, SRL by a mile.

Leonard usually fought fairly flat-footed, and had some of his best performances in this manner. He had excellent footwork no matter if he was on his toes or moving flat-footed, he knew where to place his feet for both offense and defense. Either way, Leonard is the solid favorite in this matchup.

I have only watched a handful of SRL videos to know that, SRL-Duran 1 being where I'm basing my comment from.
If he fights like that against Pac, I don't think he will completely dominate Pac like he should.
Don't get me wrong, he would still win a one-sided UD, but Pac will definitely have his moments.

hard to pick against Leonard in this matchup. Bigger, stronger, faster, just as athletic and great intangibles as well.

    QFT.

SRL would get the TKO before 8.

Solid welterweight? more like great, but I agree he's too small to beat Leonard.

Hmmmmm perhaps a tad hasty making this matchup.

Leonard stopped benitez and hearns at the weight, two all time great welterweights. He also beat duran there and some other defences.

Pac's victories about the weight consist of hoya, margo, cotto, clottey and mosley. That reads beautifully and he has really dominated them, however he's yet to beat a young gun at the weight or a fellow great at the weight. The young gun would be ortiz or bradley and the closest he'd get to a great would be floyd but even that's pushing it. However if he managed that then i'd say we could compare achievements at welterweight.

As it is i'd say pac should be compared more along the lines with prime oscar, mosley or tito. Matchups i'd favour him to win.

It's always difficult judging someone in their era, I mean who are we to say pac isn't as good a welterweight as whittaker or griffith or even benitez or hearns?

It's just not practical until they retire and we can compare them.

In pure h2h, i'm gonna say this is bloody close. Who has the edge in speed, power and chin? Hard to separate them. I'm saying considering the series with duran at welter and hearns success over twelve rounds, it is not beyond plausible that pac can win this matchup.

I'm sitting on the fence and saying fifty fifty.

I think Leonard would take it.

I do think though that the whole "big" welterweight thing is pretty overblown. Granted Leonard has height and reach, but the man looks real skinny at that weight.

manny had problems with cotto and shane when both were running away and not fighting.

may jr. is running away + he punches you with quick singular punches and than moves back, thats how he scores points and wins rounds. pac would have been with may because of that.

now take sugar rl, who is even a small tick faster than may and more athletic and you have mannys nightmare.

not that pac wouldnt have his moments, but sugar by UD is clear too me.
