i have been a pacquiao fan since BLOW BY BLOW. i have been betting on him for 50 pesos or 100 pesos against my cousins and uncles.
When Torrecampo punched him in the balls, and missed a follow-up punch as Manny went backwards and smacked his head into the canvas, knocking his poor wittle teenage brain into TKO oblivion and the announcers said it was overconfidence that caused this knockout loss. He underestimated the hardness of the ring floor and Torrecampo's ball punch. Ever since then, I said, guys, we got ourselves an ATG here. He'll never make those mistakes again!
Barrera I Pacquiao threw a lot of punches in the first 2 rounds and I was thinking "this guy is dumb hes using up all his energy already" I was even rooting for Barrera because I wanted him to fight a 3rd match with Morales but when Pac knocked him down in the 3rd I was like this guy is serious business.
There already was a buzz among local boxing fans about this wild swinging kid, and they would tune in t the BLOW BY BLOW boxing program, once every weekday evening, after the local basketball league broadcasts.. I've seen him fight those minor fights, and it was fun. he was slowly becoming a favorite of mine. Liked him more and more everytime I saw him. But this fight was the one that really made me become a fan of his. His first major title challenge. 1997 Orient Pacific Boxing Federation 112 title. [yt]8U7BwA65I0o[/yt] [yt]89NeAJ_86VQ[/yt] [yt]6O6WsvD2sY8[/yt] Big underdog, felt like we was like a lamb to the slaughter and they would ruin this kid's career so early. I just knew the Thai champ would bust his ribs up and turn his liver into pate.
this is the fight where pac ran from his opponent and when the thai fighter corners him, pac would clinch and kneel down to avoid punishment lol
I became a fan when he knocked out Emmanuel Lucero...I remember he hit him so hard that Lucero didn't even go down. He just turned away, wobbled to the ropes, and the ref stopped it just before Pac could hit him some more...it was quite a sight.
You just need to look at google trends to know 90% of the people on here are lying. 90% of Pacquiao's current web activity (hits by fans) comes from AFTER De la Hoya. His levels were much lower than Mayweather's until that time. If you've been on boards a while, you'll know 2 things. 1: The Pinoy fans didn't give a damn about Pacquiao until that night 2: Although he was respected by general fans, he wasn't hugely popular, or loved.
