JMM is a master. He difinitely knows his stuff. It would be interesting should he follow the path of a trainer once he retires.

Cheers for this, enjoyed hearing JMM's thoughts but I still think Pac is too strong for him above 140lb, hopefully he can put on a good show if they fight.

Marquez gives Pac a lot of credit for an improved right hand... thing is Marquez has reduced Pac to a one-handed fighter in both of their 2 epic clashes. Can he do it again??

I'd love to seem him train. A lot of gifted fighters turned trainers are said to be unable to do it because they often can't understand why their fighters just can't do what they did. JMM, while gifted with reflexes, decent speed, and good power, is not an amazing athletic specimen. He could use what he knows to help fighters of all sorts.

good to see box talk instead of pac/marquez love talk,As a Marquez fan I admire his ring i.q, he really nails no question about thatbut the big question is if his body will respond like he wants it to.I remamber wathcing marquez vs diaz II and not being so impressed with marquez compared to his previous fights, but then when he faced katsidis he looked like a monster again didin't he come in like at 144? Marquez has always stayed in shape and up to game on his boxing, with a mix of good strategy , practice, and if he can build a little bit more power and carry it with him @ 144 I could see it being a competitive fight. Nacho & Marquez have a good relation and with this possibly being Marquez's last big fight against his nemisis Im sure marquez will throw it all out in the ring. YYYEEETTTT I Just think Pac's power will be the diffrence maker, Pac will land a few big shots knocking marquez down a few times basically being a repeat of their 1st fight (wich I think pac won) reguardless it will be a exciting fight that will bring the best & flaws of both fighters. Marquez a living legend has his better years behind him, I feel he has nothing to prove because he has given us countless battles I think its a personal thing with him. As far as Pac I wish he would test him self with better fighters but also has nothing else to prove and should be respected by Marquez fans as well. Another question is how do you think the marquez vs diaz fight will turn out?

Wow, that was actually a great, completely uncomplicated break down of Pacquiao. Probably one of the best I've ever heard. Not surprising who it came from.

"JMM: I've always said it-you have to fight him in the same rhythm. If Manny Pacquiao moves, you have to move as well and throw combinations of punches, and not stay right there but move around, side-to-side, and simultaneously, feint him with hooks, rights, and uppercuts, fighting at the same rhythm as he is, and when he is throwing his own combinations, counter-punch him as well."

This is exactly what I've been saying and JMM is 100% correct. Speed (and rhythm) kills and you need to be able to match Pac's speed and motion to keep in there with him...otherwise, like most of these guys, you're just waiting to see what Pac does next, and by the time you respond, it's too late.

This is why I think Floyd may have a hard time. If he can't control what goes on, he seems out of place. He's diverse and technically sound and athletically gifted, but he doesn't welcome the flow the way JMM does.

    that was probably me

and you make another point about Morales that I've made often which is that Morales' machismo is one of the major reasons why he beat Pac. Probably the most important one combined with the fact that Morales was the bigger, stronger man that night.

Thanks OP! I've been looking at analysis of Pac/Marquez and Pac against his recent opponents and Marquez is actually the last to presents not just movement problems like Shane did many times but also a smart counterpunching/offensive display. I really am becoming a fan of JMM and he impresses me with his smarts and willpower. One things for sure is that he will come to fight even if he has no chance but 144 should be good for JMM as he is around there when he steps in the ring anyways. I wouldn't count him completely out just yet and maybe he does have enough to if not beat Pacquaio than to give him problems.

And better. He was ahead of Pac technically at this point. Lots of bigger stronger fighters have failed against Pac. Balls of steel certainly help.
