Who wins this battle of all time greats ? The speed, power and precsion punching of the `Brown Bomber` ,or the speed, lateral movement and combination puching of the `Real Deal` ? Sizewise they match up really well. I think that Louis pinpoint accuracy and and heavy hands could get to Holy late... But it`s a tough fight to call beacuse if there`s anyone who can overcome adversity in a tough fight, it`s Holyfield...
Holy in his prime was way stronger and better than "Conn or Wally," so I can see early 1990s Holyman schooling early 1940s Louis in a time machine.... Not impossible to buy into... IMO! MR.BILL:bbbhat
Holy always traded when he got hit ...if he traded with Joe Louis it would not last long for him .. Louis was the much bigger two handed puncher and equally fast ...
Joe would stop him early. Holyfield had a ton of heart, but Louis was easily the most devastating, accurate puncher the HW division has ever seen. Evander would be blown out of the park. :rasta
Holy gets cocked by Louis, when yet Holy has been in the ring with all the baddest mo-fo's of the 1990s era, and only clocked once by "Bowdacious" Bowe in 1995 with rumors that Holy was recovering from the flu that season.... Me thinks Joe Louie had never seen a dude as diverse and precise as a solid 215 + or - pound 'Vander Holyfield.... The 195 lb. Joe Wally being the closest thing.... Hmmm... I cannot envision Wally schooling a prime Holyman... No... MR.BILL:hat
Holyfield has a far greater chance at stopping Louis than Louis has of stopping him.I don't care how good of a puncher he was,Louis didn't stop every damn fighter he fought.Holyfield was in a completely different league to the vast majority of stiffs Louis feasted on.Clearly a better, more durable and versatile heavyweight than anyone Louis ever fought.
I like Louis. Even great chins get breached, it does happen. Mayorga had a fine chin and it got cracked by Tito. Mayorga's chin isn't Holyfield's chin but you get my point. Louis is hitting Holyfield and a lot, I pick him to get a late stoppage.
not a bad post. Walcott was versatile though, and in the rematch, Louis did beat him despite being past his own prime. I think the styles match up comes into it though and I based my opinion on that. Holyfield loves to fight, although he has boxing ability and a good jab, the man was a fighter through and through. It would be a fantastic fight whoever won though.
