His point is that if you want to make MMA as close to a "real" fight as possible, why bar any move that causes physical damage? If you want to allow soccer kicks and stomps for the "realism" factor, why not bring in groin strikes, head butts, biting, strikes to the throat, small joint manipulation, eye gouging and fish hooking? After all, all of those types of attacks happen in "real" fights.

Stupid point and very much a straw man argument. We have rules for a reason. Soccer kicks and foot stomps were part of those rules. Matter of fact they still are now hence this promotion. Groin strikes et al are not. The comparison is invalid.

After one fight for peanuts on a small card your career would potentially be over and 'real fighting' would consist of an eye poking contest, and nobody wants to see that **** (pun intended) Go watch Nakai v Gordeau to see how the eye gouging and biting effected Yuki's career. I dont know about the rest of you but sportsanship is a quality I admire in a fight over the 'Oh ****' moment of all this biting, gouging ect ****
