Can Sky really get away with DeGale vs Groves on its own as a PPV?

I no that this has been publisised as the main event and all the focus is on Groves vs DeGale. But can Sky get away with putting this as a PPV. The main event may be more intruiging but this is a lower level fight than Khan vs McCloskey and that had a better undercard with a British title fight and some international matches.

its a good fight no doubt, but its not worth 15 sheets imo.....

needs a world title fight to warrant a ppv imo.

I don't thinks its worth paying £15 for but I don't like the way you have included the Khan fight for comparison. Cleverly is likely to fight on the card with the title on the line anyway

Install Cleverly vs. top 10 ranked Euro fighter and they have practically the same card as they did yesterday in a lot of peoples eyes.

Exactly. How many of the fabled 'casual' fans would even have been able to name Braehmer as Clev's opponent on Saturday?

And anyway, forget the fact DeGale v Groves isn't for some alphabet world title, it is a hell of a lot more of an even competitive fight between good quality opposition than Haye v Harrison, Haye v Ruiz, and Khan v just about anyone over the last couple of years.

Not that I agree it should be PPV, I'm just saying it is on paper a better fight than the majority of what we've seen the last couple of years.

This. Casuals wont know the difference and its not as if Braehmar is a big name, hes a good test but if clev fights some other top 10 most people wont notice the difference.

    This.

Warren will find a replacement, the fight will be for the WBO world title, the PPV will go ahead and most of the punters for the PPV won't give a ****.

    /close thread.

Have sky ever done a PPV without a world title fight on the card??

Khan vs Prescott, Hatton vs Mallignaggi, Khan vs ***in both had world titles somewhere on the bill.

Its a sad state of boxing if a British title is going to be a PPV on its own. It needed a better card even before the Clev fight and there could well be no fight for Clev if Warren cant find him a fight on short notice. The cards not up to the level of PPV standard. Depending on the sales and how many people call up to cancel will be the big factor and for those that didnt buy the fight yet maybe it will be a no go now for them.

Jurgen Braehmer was undefeated, world title holder with a high KO ratio. It was a 50-50 fight.
