That´s a tough one. First, this will be close. I think I might give the edge to Griffith since he was the master in winning close fights but that ain´t a given. I can see the bodysnatcher getting enough rounds in the bank to edge him. A three fight series could end 1-1-1.
:deal Very tough. There aren't too many tricks you wouldn't see get trotted out over the course of a trilogy with these guys. It would be very interesting. I'm not going to make a call, right now. I'll have to think about it. But, I'll probably end up more indecisive the more I think about it.
And the chances of it not going the distance are...quite slim. They could fight a dozen times and split all controversial decisions. The more I think about it...yep, the more indecisive I get. I'm just voting for a draw.
You noticed that too!!! The same thing happened to me...I first had Griffith the winner..then McCallum...then it went to 2 apiece...with no knockdowns...not terribly exciting...then just downright dull...then....man the thought of this thread's just making me sleepy as hell.
I prefer H2H threads where I can just mock the TS for not seeing the obvious answer. When they're interesting, I often have very little to say. :? It's like when Bodhi did a Tunney/Patterson thread and I thought 'Wow, great thread!...I don't have any valuable input though. I have no idea what would happen.'
Sometimes a thread leaves you speechless....and transforms you into a fence-sitter...I honor the thread by just showing up I guess, or posting something that makes me look like Captain Obvious.
If you notice i always put even matchups..At least IMO,or ones that i think the Classic will look at as pickem... Why would i want to ask something we already know the answer too.. Leave that for the trolls
Very tough fight to make a pick. Two fantastic technicians. I think both would have to resort to more feints in order to open the other up making for a definite tactical fight. Monzon (1st Griffith fight) really punished Griffith with right hand uppercuts to the body, McCallum might enjoy some success off of that...but in the second fight with Monzon, Griffith brought his left elbow forward and pick off much of those uppercuts. Griffith could also move and mix in counters with hooks and crosses when McCallum attempted to go downstairs. Very close fights all the way...Don't disagree at all with saying they would split a series...In a one fight scenario, Griffith by super close split decision. I think Luis Rodriguez would beat McCallum easier than Griffith could...but that would be a good fight too.
:think At first i was stumped by this one but the more i think about it the more i am inclined to give Griffith a wide UD in a close fight. I think Griffith is just slightly better and although we would get a night of close rounds he would just steal most of them.
McCallum. Remember that Mike is 4 inches taller than him and has very long arms. I would think Mike would try to keep this one at a distance and is was one of the best in throwing long body shots.
