Be interesting to see if Botha is shaping up well?!
We'll see i guess! Is it all bluster or has this Simba got something. I think Botha lands a big right on Simba at some point. But will this make him crumble?
Charles as requested this is from the golden gloves website, he Flo sounds codfident Flo Simba has promised to enter the ring bigger and better than ever when he fights Francois Botha at Emperors Palace on June 4. The exciting heavyweight revealed this week that he is already at a career-high 98kg, a nod to the fact that he will be up against the biggest boxer he has ever fought. “I’m feeling good, I’ve trained hard and done more than necessary,” said the KO artist. His training has included an incredible 300 rounds against the likes of Zack Mwekassa, Johnny Muller and Tommy Oosthuizen. While none of them compare in size to Botha, the workouts have done wonders for Simba’s speed, which will be key against a slower mover like the White Buffalo. The young gun says he has seen fight tapes of Botha and was impressed. “He’s a good fighter and uses his weight to good advantage, but I must use my skills to avoid those situations.” Simba says he isn’t too anxious about the looming challenge and is gratified (rather than overwhelmed) by the great interest in the fight. As an added bonus, a group of friends from the University of Johannesburg, who belong to rap group ICU, will perform ahead of Simba’s ring entrance. “They’re rapping me a special song,” he said proudly. In a bonus for fight fans, Simba and Botha will have separate public sparring sessions at Harold Volbrecht’s gym (next to Rand Stadium in Johannesburg’s south) on Tuesday. Simba will spar at 12 noon, with Botha due to do so at 2pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
Come on Botha back up thoses words and ktfo this green! Go Botha! It was blatantly clear at Tuesday’s public sparring session in Rosettenville that the two fighters were at totally different stages of their careers. At the age of 42, Botha, arguably in the twilight of his career, had mastered the art of talking tough. “Once the White Buffalo starts running he will stampede over the Black Panther,” said Botha. Botha seemed to soak up the attention while the 21-year-old Simba, the IBO Youth champion, was more reserved in choosing his words. When asked who will win the fight, the more humbled Simba said the result could go either way. Simba acknowledged Botha’s boxing pedigree but felt his trainer and promoter would not have set-up the fight if they did not believe he could win it. Both fighters had their hopes set on a bout against four-time world heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield should they win the fight. Botha, a former IBF heavyweight champion lost to Holyfield in April of 2010 by a technical knockout in the eighth round and was supposed to have had a rematch sometime this year. The White Buffalo’s illustrious career included 56 bouts, winning 47 of them and losing five. He fought and lost against boxing greats such as Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis and Wladimir Klitscho. In terms of experience, Botha had the upper hand although Simba had gone undefeated in 10 professional fights over the last two years. Simba believed his record would not be tarnished come June 4 when the two lock horns in just over a week. “I will keep my record,” said Simba. “In the end, both of us are humans and made of skin and bones.” Botha believed Simba had more to gain than to lose as the fight would give the younger boxer big-name experience. “The first time I saw Flo, I thought he was a good prospect but still on the green side,” said Botha. “The White Buffalo will take the Black Panther to the deep waters to swim and if he can’t, sorry for him.” Botha said he had planned on calling it quits at the age of 45 after passing George Foreman’s record of being the oldest world boxing champion. His plans, however, were ruined when Bernard Hopkins, aged 46, beat Jean Pascal to overtake Foreman’s record last weekend.

This content is protected Unfortunately i cant find any pics of videos from sparring however there is this interesting quote from Botha's trainer This content is protected Botha's trainer Hardy Mileham said his fighter was taking the bout seriously and had been in training since the beginning of April. “He is in good shape, sparring every day, six days a week for ten rounds,” said Hardy. “It's going to be a big fight and we respect Flo and his trainer very much.” Botha couldn't resist taking another swipe at Simba, saying he did not expect the fight to go the distance. And by the look of this picture i have found he looks in the best shape he has been in for years! Also his odd are widening and Flo are getting shorter.
