Defence (or lack thereof) is Cleverly's most obvious flaw - apart from getting shite instructions in the corner. Bellew has more to his game in that respect, superior footwork going backwards and can also roll punches. Cleverly is cut from the Calzaghe cloth defence-wise. Eats right hands for breakfast and keeps marching forward throwing leather. It's not that people are saying Bellew will knock him out.... but it would be foolish to write him off because of a couple of iffy showings. Cleverly looked crap in his last fight let's not forget, and for a while looked like losing. There's no middle ground in boxing, you're either a superstar of exposed as a glass jawed journeyman
I don't think Bellew has that in his locker. Maybe you have seen early fights I havent. Everything on tv and the internet, he hasn't shown me superior footwork and defence. If defence is Cleverlys obvious flaw, whats Bellews cos i got a shopping basket full of them.
Bellew and his people must have had one eye on Braehmer pulling out. If they didn't then they need to give themselves a slap! We will have too see what Tony looks like at the weigh in.
Everyones entitled to their opinon fella. No-one is right or wrong - until the end result on Saturday night. I could be proved to be completely wrong - and look stupid. Then again - I might look like a genius - if everything goes how I say. Conforming to the general opinon - or your opinon - dosent make me deluded - it makes me having a mind of my own. If I was a bookie - making Clev clear favorite is a fair enough call. But in my opinon - Clev will be dragged into a red mist macho fight - and come unstuck.
Nathan has poor footwork IMO. Thats why when I hear he's been working with Joe I hope it is on this. Arnie could not speak highly enough of Bellews boxing ability when I had a chat with him a while back after bellew had already left him. So if Bellew can keep his cool there is no reason why he can't box himself into the fight.
Of course. I guess, yet again, phoney marketing has got in the way of a 'proper' fight, the casuals (i.e the majority of the paying public) do dictate the way the sport is run, especially because, more than ever it's a marginalised sport. Oh, well, not much will make a difference here. Clev will win, without much effort I reckon. Just hoping for a fairytale and Bellew to catch Clev with something monsterous in a war, not sure if he has it in him with a full training camp, let alone 3 days. As I say, don't let the above fool you; I'm a big Bellew fan (and would be regardless of him posting on here or not, his attitude is quality and he's easy to root for) and am rooting for him all the way.
Yeah I have. Like I said, I think his biggest flaw is that he loses his cool and forgets his boxing..... he's been in with opponents that he doesn't really respect that much and expects to be able to knock them over inside a round. But he has shown flashes of very good footwork and can slip/roll shots well too. If he sticks to his boxing, uses his long reach and looks for openings he's in with a chance. If he starts throwing bombs from the get-go he's going to struggle, the outcome will depend on how Cleverly fights in that case. But I don't expect Cleverly to be as reckless as he usually is - which will either play into Tony's hands or **** him up completely, only time will tell. Put it this way - it's not a mismatch, and is more intriguing than any other replacement they could have gotten in.
You think Murat has better footwork than Bellew? Anyways, as you're a 'BoxingAnalyst', why don't we analyse something? Let's start with the man in your avatar, care to espouse the merits of him as a fighter? Or are what I expect, a ****ing mong?
