I suppose Vitali should have been grateful that Lennox didn't prepare himself properly then, he got busted up bad enough as it is...

Why you trying to discredit the DR IRONFIST -

    Lewis was at his pomp.

He destroyed Tyson a year earlier.

And Vitali - was yet to hit his peak.

Lewis was lucky that night - he was on his way to losing that fight.

Nicky Piper was an unbeaten (10-0-1) prospect due to have a fight on ITV's Seconds Out. His opponent pulled out the morning of the fight.

But no problem, a late sub was found, he was slightly above the Light Heavy limit, but that was not issue as this 9-3 fighter had lost three of his last four fights, including a bad two round stoppage defeat in his last bout. Smart boy that Piper, a MENSA member, he knows how to boost his record...

Two and a bit rounds later, Piper was an and 1 fighter, and found out that 9-3 records can be deceiving, especially when held by one Carl 'The Cat' Thompson!!!

Can't believe nobody (inc me....) has mentioned Thaxton vs Ryan.

Wasn't he called up on about three days?

I know he was given enough notice, that I was wise enough to stick the then proverbial mortgage on Thaxton after being given a little tip...:yep

Made up for all the losses I had made betting on boxing... Actually who I am kidding, it made for about 1% of them losses.

I've heard this story before..... was it doing the rounds that Ryan was a bit shaky and that Thaxton had half a chance, or were people just betting on Ryan to be chinned as a matter of routine?

I was lucky, I was hanging out a bit with a friend who was part of then Sports Network fighter Georgie Smith's training team. Any way long story short, the connection got me a bit inside info that there could only be one winner in that fight, and it was not the favourite...

Jason Matthews came in at 5 days notice to fight Ryan Rhodes.

Rhodes was expected to blast him out of there.

    The opposite happened.
