But Pac didn't rehydrate to that overnight, that's the difference, he's naturally carrying that weight and strength, on fight night JMM weighed 145, at the weigh in he was slightly under 135, you don't rehydrate muscle overnight, its water. 10 pounds of muscle vs water equals a big difference in my opinion.

 

I assumed this because Nacho has often stated that this is a preferred fight weight for JMM at this point in his career. But my point is Pac has fought bigger guys conssistantly and is used to heavier guys . Period. Margarito, Cotto, Clotty! Those guys are all heavier at weigh in or in fight night than any of JMM opponents!

 

Well the fight will show it. I disagree, but we'll see. I think JMM is in for a long night of getting beat to the punch regularly. He just didn't look good at all against Floyd at a higher weight and that's all I have to base it on, he only has even fought at LW like 4 times. The strength difference is going to be immense. Of course that can be overcome with speed and timing, but speed is not on his side, so forget that. He got parked on his ass 4 times in the first two fights, Manny is much stronger now and uses his right hand more effectively. In the first two fights once JMM settled in, he realized the only danger was the straight left which put him on his ass, and looked for it and countered effectively off of it. If Manny catches him with it now at this higher weight and strength I'm not sure he can get up. We'll see. Only six months to wait:tired

 

correction.....Marquez weight 145 when he fought Katsidis while Pacman was 147-148 pounds when he fought Mosley....not much difference....

 

One key is who they have been beating lately. JMM has been beating lightweights. Do you think he could have brutalized Delahoya, Cotto and Margarito and dominated Clottey and Mosley? Manny is strong enough to compete with (actually clobber) big fighters. JMM hasn't proven that yet. So at this weight Manny looks a lot stronger. But I guess there's always a chance JMM could fight the perfect fight and neutralize Manny's apparent strength advantage.

Think about this, can you envision a scenario in which Manny might beat Martinez? I'd say he has a chance, although I think Martinez would ultimately be a little too big a load for him. But would JMM have ANY chance against Martinez?

i agree about the weight since marquez has adjusted to it better since he faught may but it wasnt cause may was 160. if you remember that figjt he looked terribly slow not small for that fight.

I think he won the second fight too, and possible even the first. That was a while ago though. While JMM has been campaigning at LW and a blowout against Floyd at a catch WW, Manny has been fighting bigger guys.
I just think Manny is stronger and faster at this weight, I'm not saying JMM can't carry the weight, of course he can, but how effectively? That's the question and now we have to wait six months for it to be answered.
The other question is how much does JMM have left? More of that should be answered in July, if he wins looking bad, I think its bad for the fight hype for the November clash, if he loses this is all out the window anyways.

 

Sorry shimmy - but this is complete rubbish. It's a completely flawed argument.

You seem to be overlooking the fact that Pacquiao is a human who also has a body that carries 'water weight' - you said the difference between Pac and Marquez when weighing 145 is that Marquez carries 10lbs of 'water weight' whereas Pac's is muscle. This implies that Pac has been fighting all of his welterweight fights completely dehydrated, which is ridiculous.

At a lower weight JMM get's into his current natural fighting weight of 145, then dehydrates himself to make the weigh in limit. At welterweight Pac's gets to his fighting weight of 146 but doesn't have to dehydrate himself for the weight limit. If Pac WAS to completely dehydrate then he too would weigh around 138 I'd guess.

Are you saying that Pac's body doesn't need the same amount of liquid as JMM's?

 

It's fine Shaunster, rubbish it is then. We'll see on fight night what happens. I feel Pac carries the weight much better, that's all. Also not having to dehydrate your body is a big plus in my opinion. We know Pac could make lower weights too, but he hasn't. If its a literal argument, sure they are roughly the same size, and I will be rooting for JMM in this fight, but my brain is having a hard time thinking JMM has a chance at this weight, we'll see in SIX Months! If JMM gets by Diaz first that is.
