I think what Conte revealed how, the last 6 weeks are pretty pointless, because one would build through anabolics throughout the year, or months before was pretty solid information.

Not sure though, cause an ideal test would be throughout the year, an thats not happening. Also in the 2008 Olympics, blood testing was used to test for HGH, because urine is better for testing for anabolics, and no incidents of HGH were reported, so few people are caught using HGH, that blood testing efficacy, still has to be improved.
I say yes, but I think if you are have the funds, and can hire the qualified specialists, testing in the last 5 or 6 weeks OSDT, would be a moot point.

It's funny that Ward is all for complete testing, and so is Donaire, both guys hiring Conte as their nutrition/supplement expert.

'Essentially the drugs cheats will always be ahead of the testers'

This is why urine tests for EPO are becoming less reliable. The more similar the artificial EPO is to naturally occurring EPO in the body, the more difficult it will be to detect. This is why testing hematocrit (blood cell concentration) is used to COMPLEMENT the urine testing. One could argue that blood testing is vital for that reason, but the truth is there will always be a way to circumvent it.

I want true year round OSDT. Everyone should push for the sports commission to adapt this.

Unlimited random testing should definitely be the goal but every possible effort should also be made in order to eventually guarantee drug tests being as valid and legit, no matter what substance is tested (urine, blood, saliva, etc.).

Blood profiling has not been that successful when the cheater can monitor his crit levels and adjust according to testing thresholds. Have you followed real testing in Europe or the rest f the world? Read the doping situation in cycling. It's a facepalm for sure. Guys who have passed the Blood Passport with flying colors get caught cuz the lab they use gets raided. Awesome, this blood testing really is working out great?

Its funny how in boxing the "hurt" business where fighters life's or on the line people have a problem with blood testing. But in baseball they have a big problem with it and it only requires hitting ball. We live in hypocritical times I tell you. Its relevant to the weed and alcohol debate. Alcohol is known to kill million of people every year and weed never killed anybody. But one is legal (alcohol) and the other is illegal. This is the world we live in.

Yeah, I'm aware on a level, that's why I said there will always be a way to circumvent it.

The drug testing challenge is analogous to that of an Antivirus... no matter how sophisticated, some hacker will always find a vulnerability. Still, how many people would feel comfortable having NO Antivirus on their computer? How much more susceptible will that computer be to infections, etc...? And still the more sophisticated the Antivirus, the LESS holes there are(or, its harder to detect the holes), though no system is perfect or without its holes.

It is probbly impoible for every boxing match and every boxer to be under OSDT. However the championship fights and champions as well as top 25 contenders in each devision probbly can and should be.

    "Funding is an issue"

Biggest load of bulls*t I have ever heard!

So a whole load of amateur sports can afford it where there is reletively low commercial value (including Amateur Boxing), but one of the most lucrative sports in the World can't?

The governing bodies just need to get their act together!

blood testing should only be used when it's nescessary. Urine testing at anytime which is less invasive should always be the first option.
