    Very impressive, and what makes it even more impressive is the way Tyson beat these guys.

    Trevor Berbick- 6'2 225lb 77", very physically strong and aggresive fighter. Current WBC heavyweight champion of the world after physically dominating undefeated champion Pinklon Thomas. Age 33

    Pinklon Thomas- 6'3 220lb 78"- Former WBC heavyweight Champion. A terrific A level left jab, Powerful right hand, sound technician. Age: 29

    Tony Tubbs- 6'3 240lb 79"- Former WBA heavyweight Champion. A very good technical boxer, with outstanding handspeed, good left jab, and a solid chin. Age: 30

    Larry Holmes- 6'3 225lb 81"- Former Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the world. Old, but very crafty, amazing chin, phenominal left jab, sound boxing skills, and full of ring savvy. Age: 38

    Michael Spinks: 6'3 210lb 76"- Current undefeated Linear Heavyweight Champion of the World. Age 32. Very unique ackwardly effective style, terrific boxer who utilizes all angles, dangerous puncher, smart, durable fighter with excellent stamina. Age 32

    Tyrell Biggs: 6'5 230lb- Undefeated ranked heavyweight contender, and former Olympic Gold Medalist. tall, fast, excellent movement, nice handspeed, a very good left jab. Age: 26

    James Bonecrusher Smith: 6'4 235lb 82"- Current WBA heavyweight champion. Monster puncher in both hands, deadly finisher. A big, strong and tough fighter. Age: 33

    Good resume, everyone quick to say he was overrated. Here is proof - he fought top guys at that time too.

    You look at the diversity of skillset and thats whats most impressive to me, regardless if they were B level opponents, for a slugger to dominate them is pretty impressive, especially the tall mobile guys.

    Bruno grabbed a belt and Holmes certainly grabbed people's attention with a well fought bout against Holyfield and Mercer-defeater Ferguson.

    Also Old Holmes (at 45!) deserved the decision against Prime Oliver McCall in '95, for the WBC title.

    Watching the fight, i think Larry did enough with his jab to win. :bbb

    Sometimes that means that particular fighter(tyson) ruined those opponents with terrible beatings. Why is it that Rocky Marcianos opponents(both young and old) were never the same again after being in the ring with him? I think Tyson had the same effect.

    Mediocre bunch of heavyweights, but some of them genuinely were the best around at the time - so all credit to Tyson.

    they were good fighters. nothing great or special. The way tyson beat most of them was very special

    Ruddock, Thomas, Tucker, sMITH and biggs would be stars in this era

    C'mon, this thread's a pure case of historical revisionism.

    If people actually think back and remember honestly, a large part of Tyson's tremendous impact was due to the fact that he came along right at the time when the heavyweight division was blighted with a severe lack of dedicated talented active fighters.

    It's an Orwellian re-writing of history going on here, and I'm calling it out.

    Maybe SuzieQ is too young to remember, but some of you others are on something else, I don't know what. :lol:

    They were ordinary.
    Tyson was good/very good.

    If Tyson hadn't come along, maybe Michael Spinks would have been undisputed heavyweight champion. And I doubt Michael Spinks would have dreamed of competing at heavyweight in any sort of strong era.

    Yes but again your comparing it to arugueably the greatest era in heavyweight history. The early 80's were no better than the late 80's. :dead

    Undisputed? :lol:

    Spinks never would've beaten Tucker.

    Ruddock would've upset him by brutal KO.

    Bruno would've had a great chance at winning in the first half.
