    Some of the comments in this thread make it seem like anything a black person gets in this country is because a white person let him have it. As if a guy like Mayweather didn't earn what he has, and should be on his knees thanking White America for giving him everything he has.

    Gotcha. Yeah, I thought so. He didn't say race had no bearing, but of course he thought this was more of the issue. I think it makes sense considering how hated Ben R is. He scores as one of the most hated football players. I've seen him ranked as the highest some where before, but honestly can't remember I think it was a yahoo article.

    Part of the thing with LeBron is just plain old envy as well... And even though be beat my Celtics :( I do not dislike him more than Clemens or Roethlisberger. Maybe I am clueless, I always felt in boxing (recent years) that it was an opportunity for any fighter of any race to be the best...I also felt like everyone liked PBF when he first burst onto the scene... It was over the years when he got surly, that the fans started to turn on him... Now I`m still pissed that LeBron lit up the Celts, but I`m not a hater...

    Tiger Woods - Not even completely black. Single handedly revived golf and was the face of the sport for a decade+ until the sex scandals. GOD THOSE SPONSORS ARE SO RACIST FOR WANTING A WOMANIZING CHEATER ENDORSING THEIR PRODUCTS!!!

    LeBron James - WTF? This guy is only hated by the Ohio area. Other than getting flack for going to Miami, he is not hated by people, much less hated because he's successful and black.

    Chad Ochocinco - HUH??? He is generally liked by American and is seen more as a class clown than a nuisance. Of course some of his antics get criticism but what do you expect. The guy is out there. It's not because he's black. FFS the guy raced a horse lol.

    Terrell Owens - Deserves it. Biggest ****ing crybaby to ever play football. He's had trouble on pretty much every team he's played for in the NFL. It's obvious his personality is the issue, not the color of his skin.

    Michael Vick - Dog fighter. Low life that has millions of dollars and still feels the need to breed, fight, and kill innocent dogs. OF COURSE THE COUNTRY IS GONNA HATE HIM.

    Kobe Bryant - Arrogant Jordan wanna-be. You aren't going to be liked when you are clearly a cocky wanna-be of the most admired sports athlete of the last century. Jordan's legions of fans hate Kobe on the sole fact that he's copied Jordan's style. But don't forget, this guy has legions of fans as well. How the hell is he not liked? More people easily like him than hate him. Now I can't comment on whether he really raped the girl or not, but that didn't help his image at all either.

    You're a stupid ****. Get off the "succesful black man is hated" bull****. These guys are either goons, or ****ed up in a way so that they deserve to be hated by the public.

    As for Mayweather crying about people being racist towards him....

    I've heard this argument before and I don't entirely agree. People are always going to have problems with stacked teams. However, the negativity thrown LeBron's way is way overboard IMO. Cliff Lee signed with The Phillies to form a loaded rotation. He received nowhere near as much flak. The situations aren't identical, but there is a paralell.

    This again goes back to my point. You would expect there to be backlash. However, ESPN did a study on this. LeBron's favorable percentage amongst blacks is over 60%. Amongst whites, it's in the 30's. That's a big difference. To me, that's either a hell of a coincidence, or racial bias played a role in people's opinion of LeBron. That doesn't mean he didn't deserve to get criticized, but it could explain the extent of the criticism.

    No, it doesn't. However, it's my opinion that racial bias does play a role and how these athletes are perceived.

    well I'm mostly defending it because everybody is implying that if you hate Floyd, then you're racist.

    Come on now. Floyd doesn't actually think that and he wasn't implying that. Especially since he said that African Americans don't support him enough. It's how everybody is trying to twist his words around that I'm defending

    That list wasn't one that I made up. Those are the athletes with the 6 lowest Q scores. Go here if you're not familiar with Q scores;

    Regardless, my point is that those guys are not liked because they do things that cause people to dislike them. NOT because they're black.
