Roy Jones vs Dariuz Michalczewski - TIME TO PUT AWAY THE MYTH

Some of Jones' opponents when he was considered P4P#1 were downright disgraceful. He loved fighting his mandatories for his paper trinkets - especially when they were off duty cops or sanitation workers. As noted above, when Tarver became his mandatory, Jones' people wrote to the sanctioning body and got him removed. Down right disgraceful.atsch

I remember Larry many times asking him when he was gonna drop his paper trinkets and go for the big fights, Roy always responded "they will take my belt Larry!". Larry rightly responded "no one cares about the belt." This was how he got the name Reluctant Roy.:yep

Honestly, some of his defences are laughable for a so called P4P#1. Today's equivalent would be Pac fighting Matthew Hatton.:roflatsch

 

yeah they want us to pretend that **** never happened that the likes of a blown up 135 pound fighter and richard frazier were quality wins

Jones didn't fight Hopkins because, Hopkins wanted a 50/50 split of the fight, which Rjj would accommodate because he had a win over hopkins so he thought he deserved a lion share of the purse.

 

I think he would but I would favor Jones in 60-40 which isn't bad for DM
also we konw what happened when quality boxer punchers like Tarver or Johnson
connected to Roy's chin ... I would say that DM beats both Tarver and Johnson
prime for prime.

.... that doesn't change the fact that DM was a rightful champion ...
it goes to the idea of lineage, DM proved earlier he was the best and
Jones didn't prove IN THE RING he was better than DM

... so all we have are speculations.

 

Matt Hatton is already accomplished fighter.

 

Glen Johnson is feather fisted.

 

Someone needs to find that pic of DM wearing his "Wer Ist Roy Jones?" t-shirt he wore during one of his fights.

 

Michalczewski was the real LHW champ who had claim to all of Jones major titles.
Jones didnt want to face the real champ and avoided Erdei also

I'm not laying blame on anyone for the Hopkins rematch not happening. All I'm saying is that Roy wouldn't get knocked on as much as he does now if that fight would have happened when they were both atop the P4P list.

Trinkets mean nothing. No way upon jones entering the division as p4p number 1, having defeated two top 5 ring rated lightheavyweights, can it be plausible that hill and maske were both the top two. Simples
