I can imagine it being a close fight..both good defensively..but yet both leave themselves open when they attack sometimes so it can make for some exciting moments..difficult fight to predict IMO

Guzman is a shocking underachiever, had 5 divisional titles in him and blew it. He has both the athleticism, the skills and and most importantly, the style to pick Gamboa's offense apart, I see him defending very well and feeding Yuri some huge left hook counters. The only way I see Gamboa winning is circling away from the Guzman left and throw volume to outwork him, but given his short hands I just don't see him doing it without getting countered on the way in.

Watch the success Darling Jimenez had vs. the Cuban and multiply it by 10 and you'll get what I think would happen. Joan Guzman WKO7.

Jimenez didn't do anything against Gamboa except for the flashy knockdown! What fight did you see?

I din't c any success by Jimenz other than the flash knockdown, he was beat up from pole to pole, and that was how many fights ago? It was his tenth fight.

Guzman is a fat boy so it would never ever happen!!

But if they had ever met at that weight i think Guzman would have won.

He had power, speed and boxing ability back then. Gamboa's chin needs to be checked and he is very wreckless throwing in wild punches at times, which Guzman would pick off.

Something funny hermano? Guzman being a different class to Gamboa is really not a knock on the Cuban, there are few in his class, Floyd Mayweather is one. He was THAT good whenever he cared to actually show up at his best, and I'm talking about that Guzman, not today's. Terrible style match-up for Gamboa you don't wanna face a real natural with a glaring hole in your defense and a drop in-drop out style. Disastrous.

Im a big Gamboa fan but this sounds about right^^^..... I think Guzman at Fw would have had the style and tools to beat Gamboa,he was still a good puncher too, combined with a good chin, comparable speed, and a little more experienced(championship fights).

I know is not a knock on the Cuban, Guzman was good but IMO he didn't have enough power to keep Gamboa honest and he was slower too, Gamboa so far hasn't need to show how good of a boxer he is technically speaking, who is going to push him, I don't know?

Another thing is, who did Guzman fought at 126 that you can say wow? Barrios over 130lbs an SD, Jauregui at 126lbs DEC, Sanchez at 122lbs, so he made a name for himself fighting who?
