The race card? Really Floyd. You're gonna hide behind that, after doing that racist rant of yours. smh.

Something that I have seen brought up only once -- and it was brought up by Big Reg, who is pushing the "racial affiliation colors one's perception" argument (which I actually think is true, or likely true):

    Culture.

As in, many whites might not like the showy, "make it rain" culture embraced by some athletes -- like Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Thus, one can dislike the acts and lifestyle of the person but not dislike him/her because, for example, he/she is black (that is, because of his/her race).

Compare, for example, typical Puerto Rican concepts of demeanor vs that of, say, Mexican concepts. One's more showy; the other more humble. Both cultures are Latino. Some people have more of an appreciation for the stereotypical Puerto Rican demeanor, some for the stereotypical Mexican demeanor.

There are also a number of counter-examples to the idea that the black athlete is hated where the white athlete would not be. Take Ray Lewis, for example. Associated with that whole murder thing. I don't see him on the hated list. In fact, wasn't he doing Old Spice commercials recently? Compare that with Kobe and the **** accusation.

Now, of course, as others have mentioned -- and, to be fair, Big Reg has mentioned -- the "race colors perception" argument has a flip side. As in, if that thought is true, then blacks are going to have more-easily-unfavorable opinions of white athletes in the same manner that whites supposedly have more-easily-unfavorable opinions of black athletes.

Additionally, as was pointed out earlier in the thread, the corresponding response to someone like Big Reg saying that whites don't like to have racism/etc pointed out -- that is, for a non-white to psychoanalyze whites -- is to have whites psychoanalyze non-whites, or psychoanalyze issues regarding non-white athletes.

When Rush Limbaugh did this -- and did it pretty accurately, in some minds -- he was run off of TV.

When various non-whites do the same thing (or what some might deem "self hating" whites fulfilling the same function)? Often allowed, and even championed. Deemed "insightful," etc. Here's another example of what I'm talking about:

    SOURCE: ThyBlackMan

Now, honestly, the (non-white commentator) guy is likely correct here. But, just as with Big Reg, if he gets to make the statement about a group whose thought process he can't directly know, then whites get to make similar statements. It goes both ways.

Thus, you get responses -- fair or not -- to such "whites psychoanalyzed" thinking like this: Black fans just want black athletes to do well. Black fans of black athletes just want their guys to do well to show that blacks are the best athletes, that they are supposedly superior as athletes to other groups. But...you can't say blacks aren't as smart as whites. Nope. Blacks only want to hear the "positive racism" tales: We're better athletes than everyone else, but just as smart as any other group.

That's where this stuff goes; these are the logical extensions. You can't get one side of this thing without the other.

And, the man who commented on Tiger as cited above essentially confirms what I wrote above:

You get it? The commentator (who is a Ph.D., I believe) likes that Tiger humbled The White Man.

So, when you hear Floyd Mayweather say -- for whatever reason he's saying it, and I think that reason is for transparent public relations purposes -- that people want to see him lose because they're racist, understand that he is also, by extension, saying that people want to see him win because they're racist.

You can't have one without the other. And, sadly, both of those preceding statements are probably true.

Big Reg is probably correct with what he says, but that possible truism runs both ways, and nobody comes out looking particularly good. Welcome to human nature.

See you are displaying that self victimizing, me against the world disposition yourself. He said "a few blacks acting insecure". That somehow registers to your brain as him "labeling blacks in general as being ignorant and insecure" :huh

While Floyd is busy feeling sorry for himself and blaming other people, Manny is fighting and helping people.

Floyd´s being paranoid. Boxing isn´t about Floyd Mayweather Jr and will not die after Mayweather.
In fact boxing would do better without these PED-slanderments and racist remarks about Filippines.

He's a ****ing mentalcase. I don't dislike Mayweather because of his skin colour, I dislike him on his own terms and his lack of courage and ability to tell the truth. And the fact that his ego has gotten too gigantic proportions.

Ripper11 said the media were twisting his words. "Everything boils down to this 'we wanna see' this black, arrogant American lose. He shouldn't be able to live next door to me. He shouldn't be able to drive the cars I drive." How in the **** is that words being twisted? If someone wanted him to lose for those reasons, then they are a racist, and the title says "Floyd claims people want to see him lose because they're racist". Going by what he said, that's completely ****ing true, and the media aren't twisting anything, but it's a bunch of bull****.

Floyd likes to paint a bigger picture. He claims that Americans should get behind their own, that they want him to lose because he's black and successful (a great irony in this article is the amount of charges he has at the moment), and he's always ****ing making excuses for everything. "THE PEOPLE DON'T LOVE ME OR RESPECT ME". Exactly, because you're a ****ing wimp and make more excuses than any of the boxers out there. People attack your record because it's right, you don't fight anyone fairly. You fought Marquez at Welterweight, AND YOU STILL came in too ****ing heavy, with a look on your face as if it was great ****ing news. This is a goddamn lightweight and you decided to come in higher than the contract allowed, who's the ****ing legitimate Welterweight here? Because it sure isn't the guy who fighters over the hill or blown up lightweight and Jr. Welterweights.

You're a ****ing coward, and you don't deserve anything, and your ego will crash as will your money supply. You don't know the first thing about Money and will dwindle it all away, then you'll be right where your ****ing parent is and you'll have no legacy to fall back on. People can talk all the **** they want about Spinks and Meldrick Taylor being broke, but least they left a ****ing legacy and showed heart.

So from this thread, I believe it's safe to say that BigReg, Pimp C, Bald_head_bitch and hussleman are all ignorant, uneducated black folks that pull the "you hate me cuz I'm black" card for everything that goes wrong in their lives. Grow up you ignorant ****ing ****s.

I'll tell you why I want him to lose: he's a fukin conman.

He cleans us superfeatherweight looking absolutely phenomenal. He then steps up against the best lightweight in the world, wins a close fight and rematches him to win clearly. At this point he promises us all something special. He is in one of boxings hottest divisions containing names like castillo, corrales, johnson, freitas, casamayor etc. Just one division north we have huge p4p star in tzyu. So surely at this point pretty boy will realise his potential and clean house right? Wrong. He goes on a dysmal run stretching a few years which sees gatti being the only fighter of note he faces. So we all get angry he's avoided 3 top twenty p4p guys all campaigning in his division.

But then he makes it up to us; he fights bald, judah, hoya and hatton establishing himself as the top dog at ww. He once more finds himself in one of boxings hottest divisions containing margo, williams, cotto, clottey, mosley what does floyd do? He retires leaving the divisions best to fight amongst themselves.

He then plays the same trick again! He returns to defeat marquez and mosley, two top 5 p4p stars whilst pac defeats cotto and clottey surely now floyd will fight his biggest challenge who now happens to be p4p number 1. No he tries rewriting the rules then goes on vacation.

People want him to lose because he demonstrated so much promise ten years ago and he failed to live up to that promise. The truth is the names of guys he didn't fight in his divisions are better than the names of guys he did fight.

Imagine adding casamayor and freitas at lw(instead of his pitiful post cartillo defences). Add tzyu at lww(instead of corley). Add marg, williams, cotto and clottey at ww (instead of his two year retirement).

Floyd should have a resume reading like a who's who of the 00's instead he let greatness slip through his fingers. The guy is untested at ww imo and would get dominated by pac.

I'm black. I want to see him get KTFO because he says things like:

"Everything boils down to this 'we wanna see' this black, arrogant American lose. He shouldn't be able to live next door to me. He shouldn't be able to drive the cars I drive."
