The Tyson Lewis beat Vs The Spinks Tyson beat Funny that some people think that Tysons fight against a 32 year old Spinks was his signature fight and Lewis's fight against 32 year old Tyson was the beating of an old [younger] man.. Anyway I think Tyson would still win in 1 round Thoughts??????
Spinks KO8 The version of Tyson who Lewis beat was completely shot, he was a drug abuser on anti-depressants who turned up for the pay-check saying,"Thanks for the money Lennox" after his fight with Dane Brian Neilson Tyson weighed in excess of 285lbs and spent the entire 12 weeks training for the Lewis fight sat in a sauna so as to look respectable on fight night.. his KO losses to Danny Williams & Kevin McBride was indicators he was completely shot... a better topic would be Lewis vs Spinks (who beat Holmes)
Tyson was 35 wasn't he? Anyway TYson is still all wrong for Spinks, not sure he catches up to him in R1 though
Toxic Waste Tyson was 35 years old in 2002, do you suppose he was only a 15 year old kid when he went pro in 1985? :huh Zombie Tyson was a shot-to-****, rusty, slow, fat, lazy, lethargic rotting plodder corpse. Importantly, his stamina was disgracefully terrible by any standards. Here is the fight he had a year prior to Lewis, which itself was a year after his fight before it, we can see that Zombie Tyson sluggishly struggled with the Obese Brian Nielsen; a lardass who needed a gift decision to win against a 48 year old Ancient Holmes. Spinks via wide UD. Michael would run for the first couple of rounds, then put on a boxing clinic & school the exhausted & decaying corpse of Tyson.
So you think totally shot, overweight and unmotivated Tyson still does the same thing he did in his absolute prime? By the way, he was almost 36 in June 2002, not 32 :nono
My bad about the age - but yesI think he would do the same to spinks - he was still very dangerous in the first round and Spinks was gonna be beaten as soon as he was hit. Tyson was the active boxer whereas Spinks was the one who came out of retirement.
I think Tyson walks through him. The Spinks footwork had slowed quite a bit and looked bad in the Davis bout. That knee of his was not good but something not as critical of an element facing the heavies. What Butch Lewis/Futch did was match him up with the heavies that had slower footwork and mobility. Until Tyson. And there was no place in the ring for Spinks to move facing an aggressive puncher like Tyson. He was never going to get the guy off him. Even the later versions of Tyson still put pressure on fighters early and I just don't think Spinks had the firepower at heavy to discourage Tyson from winging away in there. If Tyson wings away with 30 big punches a round, he is going to hurt Spinks. It won't take 3 rounds or say 90 big Tyson shots from both hands. He would resort to fouls as well and I don't think Mike Spinks would've been able to handle that aspect of things either--he'd have relied on the ref to bail him out and not done anything physically himself to stem the tide or get payback.
i don't know i think Tyson was all wrong for Spinks. If Spinks would be in Lewis place and saw the nilsen fight and other he could run for first 1 round and if he survived he would stop mike late. But if he didn't know that the outcome would be the same. only version that would lose to spinks is mcbride version.
Spinks didnt really run from Prime Tyson, why would he run from Old Tyson. I think Prime Spinks was too good for this version of Tyson, but then again, i think he is terribly underated, was silly enough to think he was actually going to beat prime Tyson, and could probably be convinced that he would have done an awful lot better in a rematch, so i am not really the best to judge on this match.
spinks would have won if he could beat the ageing but still capable holmes he beats the washed up shot to **** corpse that was mike tyson in 2002 inside 7 or 8 .
Spinks could move all he wants. He was more like a light heavyweight. A couple good shots from Tyson and it's lights out.
