Khan Desperate For Bradley Fight! - Willing To Offer Bradley 50/50 Split Of UK PPV!

According to ESPN.com's Dan Rafael, Amir Khan has authorized Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions to make Timothy Bradley a sweet new offer to get a fight done on July 23.

Rafael reports that Khan wants to offer Bradley a 50-50 split of the pay-per-view revenue in the United Kingdom. That is a very bold move by Khan, and indicates one of two things:

Khan really, really wants this fight, or

Khan knows that the fight isn't going to happen, so he can grandstand like this.

I tend to be an open-minded dude and all, but there are a lot of layers to this whole situation. Gary Shaw says they upped the Khan fight offer to Timothy Bradley to a "minimum of $1.4 million against an 80-20 split of their side's take," with Bradley keeping the lion's share for himself.

But strangely, it seems like the least-talked about thing in this whole ordeal is what I'm assuming is the real reason this fight isn't happening on July 23. By all accounts, Timothy Bradley's contract with Gary Shaw expires on June 30. That's a big deal. Why would he risk devaluing himself against the toughest 140-pound test out there for him by accepting a fight on July 23 when his deal is up on June 30 and he's going to probably be looking to listen to offers elsewhere, or at the very least renegotiate a better deal with Shaw? I really, really believe that this has to be the biggest issue for Team Bradley, and not the fact that HBO offered him good money for any fight they approve, or some fear of Amir Khan.

Still, the UK PPV offer from Khan is pretty big. In the previous offer, Bradley would have gotten 0% of the UK PPV, and 50% is, like, way more than that. I'd say this makes the chances of seeing Khan vs Bradley on July 23 better than they were when the fight was considered dead last week, but I still wouldn't hold my breath. If it doesn't happen, it appears the two front-runners to face Khan on July 23 are Robert Guerrero and Zab Judah, with Guerrero seeming to have the lead in that race so far.

Honestly, the way Khan has been talking.. he wants Judah, Bradley, Guerrero or anyone.

Bradley needs to step up to the fookin' plate!!

You see what this tells me, that Khan knows his route to Mayweather is through bradley and only through bradley, he cant fight anybody else to get that fight as he is the only viable opponent that can propell him to the elite elite level.

The Khan fight is not worth anything for bradley right now, he knows that khan knows that and deep down his fans know that.

What doesnt help this is his promotional contract i just wonder who he will be signing with, because if it is with top rank sadly us fans can say good bye to this fight.

Schaefer and Shaw are involved in trying to finalize a deal between junior welterweight titlist Amir Khan (with Schaefer's Golden Boy Promotions) and Timothy Bradley Jr. (with Shaw -- until his contract runs out this summer).

They have so far been unable to close a deal for the July 23 HBO fight because Bradley has balked at Shaw's minimum guarantee of $1.3 million against 80 percent of their side's profits, so Schaefer has been talking to other opponents.

However, Khan apparently really, really, really wants the fight. Schaefer told me Khan authorized him to make it a straight 50-50 deal. Under the original proposal (which was fair), they would split everything 50-50, except Khan would keep his British pay-per-view money. This week, Schaefer said Khan told him to give Bradley's side 50 percent of the U.K. TV money, too -- even though we all know Bradley is no draw whatsoever and adds little to the pay-per-view in terms of real money.

Shaw told me Schaefer had indeed made him that offer. Shaw also said he raised his minimum guarantee to Bradley to $1.4 million (a career high by $200,000) against 80 percent of the profits his side would receive.

Yet according to both promoters, the Bradley camp has not yet accepted -- and Shaw and Schaefer are somewhat stunned. If what they say is accurate, I am, too.

Widdy, actually read the stories properly. Gary Shaw, Bradley's current promoter has offered Tim 80/20 split of his profits. It's nothing to do with Khan.
