the plasma centers allow people to come in twice a week and i could make around $60 a week donating plasma. plasma is not blood but mostly water and some iron. im tempted to go because i could make around $240 each month and at the same time i will contribute to the goodwill of mankind for people who desperately need stuff like victims of car crashes, violence, etc. my question is, would this affect my boxing workouts?
If it's anything like donating blood, then yes it will. You will feel like complete **** and it will take quite some time to get back to peak performance
they stick a needle in your arm and draw blood from you. the blood goes into a machine that separates the red stuff from the plasma. the red stuff is then returned to your body but the gooey yellowish stuff (plasma) is taken from you. its kinda like donating blood but not totally.
Hmmm I can't give you a clear answer then, I would imagine it would since they are taking vital nutrients away from the actual blood. Just don't be surprised if you're more fatigued from exercises and possibly unable to complete your usual workout; after I gave blood it took a few months to recooperate
It will affect you, but not as bad as donating whole blood. Take it easy for the rest of the day and drink plenty of water, if you feel light headed when training stop immediately and lay down. You can go from 'I feel a little dizzy' to 'falling down and slamming your head into the ground' very quickly.
It is not as bad as everybody says. It's not going to make you feel worse than getting a shot to the liver for instance. However, it is going to drain you, and I believe if done regularly, will have a severe effect on your boxing if you are serious about the sport, or not. Basically if you need some quick cash you gotta do what you gotta do, but don't do it regularly. Eat plenty, and drink plenty before and after, and don't drink, or eat any dairy just before, or after either!
