Not one of his more memorable fights but i like the way he turns this fight round, look at the jab and pivot uppercut, i dont think i ever saw Tyson use this move before or after.

When was the last strong era?

 

There was the golden era of 70s
then the rest are pretty much equal. With some good, some bad some outstanding
then you have todays garbage which is the lowest of the low

the 90s had the potential to be the greatest,
With Tyson, Bowe, Holyfield, Lewis, Ruddock, Tua, Morrison, Mercer, Foreman, Moorer, hell even Golota and Bruno. However most of these fights never took place, or took place wayyyyyy too late.

the 70's were great but very, very over-rated.

Frazier was on the slide after 71, which leaves 9 years- more or less- of unimpressive performances.

Ali was dissipating the entire decade but had enough natural ability and cojones to make a fight with anyone.

Foreman was coddled, won the title, made one reasonable defense and then struggled with b-level guys (who real 70's wags will continue to over-rate because of the apolostolic succession of having been touched by the great Foreman!)

Quarry was a cruiser. Norton could never completely rise to the occasion. Shavers was a one-trick pony, Lyle a tough guy with overrated power who never KO'd anyone who already wasn't paying rent to the canvas.

If that's the best the heavies have to offer, I'll stick with bantams and middles.

 

I think it was pretty good considering he fought all who were there. In fairness it aint Tysons fault he was in the era he was in, so he must get full credit for what he did and the way he went about it. Although it must be added that, to the best of my memory, not one of those guys were remotely fancied to beat Tyson, so it depends on your take of things

I think part of the magic of the Golden Era was Ali, take him away and the division is no better than the 90s.
If Tyson had got his act together after prison and knuckled down, he could have done some serious damage
