Just wondering how many people here take them? I just bought a tub of Amino 1000 yesterday and just started them today! The pack tells me to take two or three with each meal and also straight after training so thats going to work out to me taking around eight or ten a day. I wouldnt mind this if they werent so expensive and i really dont mind taking them if they give results. Anyone any insight on them? Do you get enough aminos from chicken etc so taking tablets is kind of not worthwhile? Cheers Andy
I don't understand why people are so keen to part with their money without understanding what they're doing. Most people get too much from food so taking supplements as well is a bit odd. You know amino acids are just what protein is made up of don't you? Eating protein is eating amino acids, when you eat things like meat you get all the amino acids you could need. Some bodybuilders take excess of certain amino acids in the belief that they're going to help recovery and so on but there is absoulutely no evidence for it.
well its better to be saturated with all of the nutrients from supplements than be undernourished with uncertainty without thats what i say
If you are that concerned then research them more, but if you are eating clean you are probably getting enough from real food. Ask yourself what "results" you are actually trying to acheive from taking these pills which you know nothing about, and how can you measure the results. You will probably fine little or no benefit from taking them, which means they are not worth the money.
That's an idiotic thing to say, having too much of most nutrients is just as harmful as not having enough. We're talking about protein here, something you'd have to go to an effort for to actually not get enough.
Yeah it probably was a bit daft getting them when i didnt do much research on them but i just bought them on impulse cause i saw them in the shop and thought i'll give them a go. Yeah i know what amino acids are but i just wasnt sure if it would greatly benefit having that little bit extra through supplements for recovery especially when training hard.
If you're getting enough protein then you don't nood amino acids. Research any and all supplements and manufactures before you purchase are take them. You'll find that supplementation, for the most part is over-hyped and over-priced. Don't get me wrong supplements have their place, but don't take or buy them "just for the hell of it".
I disagree with most of the posts here, i think amino acids supplements are a great way to keep your body anabolic after long periods of not being able to get to a meal. Although i do not think you need to take them 3-4 times a day, I'd go for 1 drink with breakfast and 1 drink post workout.
You can't really say that without knowing his diet, same can be said to everyone else the other way round. Generally though, protein should be aquired through food, not supplements. Point is, if you're eating properly you shouldn't waste money on protein shakes, particularly when you have no idea what you're doing when it comes to supplements and what your body needs and when. It's this idea of "I want to build muscle, so I started having protein shakes" So ****ing what? What about the carbs and fats to balance out your diet? People seem to have it in their head that if they drink protein shakes they will just build muscle.
I know people who claim that they have provided quite well for bodybuilding. I think amino acids or a whey protein is great straight after a boxing workout for some quick recovery.
Protein cures cancer......... so I’m sure it does recover the body even after injury. 50% of the protein is wasted as energy if eaten with a small amount of carbohydrate though.
Since cancer is caused by acid......... then ‘many’ little acids can cause cancer too. You just need little acids to maintain the middle PH 7. Too much protein is shakes & pills.
