Indeed. I felt that DeGale's flurries were missing or hitting gloves far more than the commentators realised.

I've just heard that DeGale apparently had a big strop and stormed off during a Radio 5 interview. :hi:

Groves fought a pretty basic fight and didn't really show off all he had, and still won. There was only one winner, if DeGale had got it it'd have been a disgrace.

 

Absolutely delighted for Groves, and big credit to Booth for the perfect tactics.

I hope DeGale ditches Mcdonell and we can have 2 more great British fighters at SMW

i scored it 7-5 to Groves. Quality night. The fight wasn't amazing but so tense and intriguing. bring on the rematch in 2 years for unified world titles.

i said this was a closer fight than many thought. people read way to much into the smith fight and degale has so many flaws.

I heard degale is crying and not giving any more interviews. Just proves like with audley, tyrell biggs etc etc that Olympic golds do not always translate into pro success. Degale cry cry cry chunky u funky poo poo as that mc once said.

 

Well that is a complete turn up for the books. I think there will be some major changes made with Degale. I expect Warren to do what he did with Khan to Degale top possibly US trainer build back up fairly quickly towards the WBO.

Groves? God knows where he goes from here tough one can't say he is ready for that big step up yet but the way Hayemaker match people who knows. I look forward to it either way.
