DeGale ain't winning any real world titles any time soon Rob.

He needs to learn how to punch properly for starters. Obviously gonna sound like getting on the band wagon now but the hype around him was ridiculous and Jim McDonnell wasn't helping him one bit as will be proven in the next few weeks.

I can't understand why Groves' fight against Anderson wasn't really taken into account by the so-called pundits. They all claimed that DeGale had mixed in better company, which is bull****.

I thought that Degale was going to take this clearly, winning by either a late referee stoppage or a wide UD. Clearly, I was wrong. Groves was impressive tonight, and I'm delighted he won. When they were reading out the scores, and I heard Dave Parris and the third judge had the same score my heart sank... and then Groves won! Fantastic.

Anyway, Groves seems to have less pure talent than Degale, but he had the perfect gameplan and executed it brilliantly. Degale on the other hand won his fights until now purely thanks to his superior ability and seemed to get in the ring without much of a gameplan. That caught up with him now, I wouldn't be surprised if he changed trainers quickly. Btw has this upset caused anyone to change their expectation for the Wlad-Haye fight? I suddenly found myself thinking that there's a chance, however slight it may be, that Haye could actually create an upset.

Had it as a draw but if any1 was gonna get the decision it was Groves. Harder for DeGale to come back due to his lack of likeability, getting booed in your own home town aint a good sign. From what warren said afterwards its bye-bye McDonnell. Cant be good for a trainer if he is beaten in the tactics stake by a fitness instructor. How good is Groves gonna be after Haye has retired when he is the only fighter for Booth to concentrate on.

i said after the smith fight you lot are giving degale to much hype. after this he is getting to much stick. both showed signs tonight of having world class potential groves just showed a bit more and had a trainer with a quality game plan.

degale needs to go to the states. get the kind of hard sparring groves got. not bashing up steve o'meara in the gym. people will go "freddie roach freddie roach" but manny steward would be good, buddy mcgrit is good with boxers. brother naz would be perfect.

I had a feeling Groves would outbox Degale and posted it last night stating that it was a value bet, but I didnt have any money on it!

I thought Booth was outstanding in the corner tonight - his advice was absolutely spot on and Groves fought out of his skin. Degale was the stronger fighter but he couldnt hit Groves cleanly. I can see McDonald getting the boot now, and to be fair I thought his advice in the corner was panic stricken and very poor technically.

Warren's face said it all - he was pissed. haha!

Well done Groves, so happy for you!

No need to go overboard IMO. Not like he was completely exposed like Amir Khan. End of the day you get 3 different judges and they see it his way and nobody is saying he's **** etc.

He made some seriously bad tactical errors though. He seemed to feel like he could give away rounds cheaply and do it all later, thats never a good idea and thats the main reason he lost the fight tonight.

Neither were too impressive to be honest. I don't think Groves was all wonderful tonight. He did cut out a lot of the unneccessary movements he usually does as far as feinting ridiculously and kept a bit of a higher guard. But he didn't exactly do a lot of outstanding work himself and looked weaker than DeGale late in the fight. Any time DeGale landed he seemed hurt so I don't rate his durability that highly. If DeGale didn't inexplicably start like a turtle he could have stopped Groves.

Degale may be more talented & potentially have the better career

George is the no.1 British SMW, he was class in his post-fight interview but no horse jokes

Honestly, after that, I want to see DeGale get beat AGAIN.

Come on man, really, George goes to you and you don't even look in his eyes after he won and just look pissed off like a *****.

DeGale's got one **** of an ego and an attitude, hence why he got BOOE'D.

War Groves!! Damn, it feels good.
